Any & all training is pretty lacking here. If you don't know you better be able to teach yourself & or catch on quick.
Overall compensation for your work
Worked here for almost 6 yrs & only made $1.50 more an hour when I left than when I started. Their raises are only up to 3% of your gross salary if you're lucky. The health benefits are satisfactory & the Paid Time Off is also good.
In the summer you will have a normal working schedule. In the winter I worked so many 12 hour days that I barely saw my kids which is one of the many reasons I left.
I can't speak for all employees, but all the ones I worked with & that left when I left were not happy. Amerigas customers are the ones that have the most negative image of the company.
The company is always changing & looking for ways to cut costs & save money. I don't believe they would ever out-source customer service jobs at Amerigas, but technology might take over those jobs.
Safety is definitely their #1 priority as it should be.
The challenge in this job is being able to take the hundreds of phone calls during the winter getting screamed at & belittled by angry customers. Was threatened multiple times by customers that they would come into the office & kill me if they didn't get what they wanted.
Suggestions for improvement
- The issue in the district I worked for was we were way understaffed & couldn't meet the demand. They need to have trucks on the road that work & don't break down every 5 minutes & listen to their field employees on the needs of the district. And for God's sake stop price gouging the customers!
What I like about the company
The benefits were good & that's about it.
What I dislike about the company
Everything but the benefits.
The following benefits were offered to me
