Company Culture

Safety culture is high but team culture was low, thus 3 stars

Support from management

Yes managers do try to support employees. I do believe they could do better with leadership but it's not terrible.

Teamwork

You have to work in teams. If you excelled and help others you are not compensated accordingly. If you fall behind they will have others help you.

Freedom to work independently

Yes you do work independently but have team leaders reviewing quantity of work daily

Internal Communication

Very inconsistent between team leaders. While the underwriting process is the same, team leaders each had their own way of how they wanted the risk analysis.

Gender Equality

They may have a woman ceo but there is still gender bias. Men make better wages and tend to get promoted faster.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They work within the labor laws. But don't expect special treatment if older, you must still work as hard and as fast as the younger demographic.

Career Development

Not really, advancement is based on if someone leaves a higher position. You cannot get very far otherwise. They do offer continuing training for CE credits for license holders.

Overall compensation for your work

Absolutely not. Many employees are on food stamp programs and state medical. Benefits are offered but are expensive. Pay rates are very low considering the education needed to work for such a company.

Office / Work Environment

They provide sufficient office chair and desk. Lifted desk of needed.

Environmental Friendliness

They have an aluminum and plastic bottle bin in break rooms. Company is as paperless as it can be. Some documents must be sent on paper.

Work-Life Balance

They offer personal and vacation time. Accrual rate does not change with tenure. Most people especially with children were out of hours quickly as flex time for underwriting is not allowed. Flex time allowed in other departments but depends on VP of department. So very inconsistent

Company Image

I never actually shared where I worked with strangers. Only people whom I know directly and were in my area knew where I worked.

Job Security

No. Changes can be made and are made at anytime. You are told what you are doing and if you challenge management you will be perceived as hostile.

Handicapped Accessibility

They provide parking spaces. Doors are not easy to open, and no switch to auto open is available.

Workplace Safety

Company is based on safety. All safety must be followed 100%.

Challenging Work

Work is repetitive in nature, review customer information, analyze risk, rate risk & decide to offer quote or not.

Inclusive / Diverse

Not really. You can voice great ideas but in the years I was there none were implemented. Only opinion that was used was the vp of that department.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Management training first and foremost, I dont believe management has taken any leadership courses. Allowing employees to be an individual and welcome constructive criticism as a way to improve the overall company. It would be nice to have them listen to us. We are the ones working there we know what we need.

What I like about the company

They have fun employees events at Halloween and Christmas. Company will gather donations for natural disaster relief. Dress code is strict seeing as how employees never see their customers but doable.

What I dislike about the company

Rate of pay, dress code, flex time,management lacks leadership skills. It's very much small town mentality. Its who you know and who you get along with. If you challenge management you will be considered hostile. You do not really have a sense of Individuality, they appear to love sheeple. Go with the flow and you will succeed.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The company as a wholebis a good company to work for. Safety and wellness are priority but pay is not. There are inconsistencies with dress code and personal conduct depending on what department you work. Some departments you can speak to colleagues at work areas at normal vocal volume others are discouraged and best left for time off.

What I like about the company

Management appears to take employee concerns seriously. They work hard at fully training employees to so the job at hand.

What I dislike about the company

Pay is less than desirable. Accrued vacation and sick time does not increase with tenure. Hard to advance in certian departments, essentially have to wait for an employee to leave position to advance. You can reach certain levels of advancement but cannot advance unless that position is open regardless of skill level.
