Their motto is "always better" which to people not in upper management means "always do better than we ask even if we dont support or help you"
The company is not dishonest but they are not very straightforward a lot of the times. Often keeping a lot of information from employees and dealers
Freedom to work independently
Trusted to work independently and make your own decisions.......as long as its their decisions
A LOT of micro managing, department heads do not communicate with each other which causes a lot of problems and nobody takes accountability for it
Attitude towards older colleagues
Only if youve been working for them already for a while. In that case, yes, they are supported and appreciated. If you havent been with them for 4 or more years they dont care about you
No opportunities for personal develeopment. There are not many career development opportunites despite a growing company. They assign more responsibilities but not compensation
Overall compensation for your work
There are a lot of problems receiving commision, a VERY strict commission structure designed to only get decent payout with 125% or more to quota and no way to accurately track your commission. This goes for the employees and the dealers they support. Health and 401k benefits are ok.
Office / Work Environment
The main office is very inconvenient to get to unless you live in the vicinity and the parking is just as bad as parking in the city. The building and offices themselves are decent
Company has no concerns or mentions of eco or neighborhood awareness
Work life balance is terrible. Work doesmt end until several hours after retail stores are closed (10pm or later) and 6 days work weeks are veey common
They have no loyalty and only protect people that are in the inner circle. They would rather teeminate a successful employee for a cheaper one than support the person currently doing well.
The office not only does not offer any handicap accessibility but it has VERY steep stairs and no elevator
The building itself is safe but the surround sidewalks and streets arent. There are massive potholes in the area, a butcher / meat distribution spot on the corner (not reccommended for the squemish or ppl opposed to eating meat. Things are very visible) Also, it is in an industrial area with a highway looming above which is dangerous in the winter due to snow plows pushing snow and ice onto the streets ans buildings below
The work is not hard but the lack of information and communication from management makes it hard.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diversity in the workplace yes. However, not if you want to move up. Diverse ideas and opinions are supported but dont ofter get recognized and credit gets taken at times
Suggestions for improvement
- Hire enough people for the job. Stop micro managing to an excessive amount, have more coaching and feedback sessions with employees and take them seriously
- Be more open and honest with your commissions. Reward your dealers more instead of docking them commission left and right. More transparency. The employees and dealers do not trust the company and are not happy for the most part
What I like about the company
Ability to work independantly. Christmas party is great, ceo and cfo can be generous. Company is growing (however, they do not prepare properly for it which causes various work problems)
What I dislike about the company
No loyalty, communication is TERRIBLE, many employees in the office are underqualified, very high turnover rate, disorganized.
