No trust between employee and management. Recently large layoffs due to restructuring which was actually a farce. The co is in process of rehiring workers at 1/2 the wage.
Support from management
Micro management, avoidance of responsibility, absent. Always available to criticize and complain. Culture of "secrets."
Every man for himself except for a few long term employees that actually know more than the managers.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Company recently laid off mostly women all 50 years old or older esp if they had worked there long term.
There is no where to go in this company. Recent top talent exiting the building proves this.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation has fallen way below previous years levels thus giving upper management the ability to increase their own pay at the expense of the little guy. The benefits are equal to most of the industry and good.
No. Even customers know the employees hate their jobs.
Layoffs and forced retirement is the lay of the land so company can hire in young folks w half the experience or education at half the cost. Company prefers half the cost and puts future of the co in jeapordy with disloyal newbies that are not entirely ethical.
Yes great property. Free gym w/ showers.
Inclusive / Diverse
No freedom of speech at this company. Employees fear retribution. Managers as well. Managers reinforce this "paranoid" thought process and encourage people to keep quiet.
Suggestions for improvement
- Complete reorganization needed. Too many buy-outs, upper management changes and culture of paranoia. Need to weed out top management and start over. While they have been running their games the competition has eaten this distributor alive.
What I like about the company
Good co-workers willing to share information (mostly) and assist. Stable benefits. The actual work is fun if you can make it thru all the drama and politics.
What I dislike about the company
Go work there if you want to be micro managed, mistrusted and prefer to not be creative, innovative or actually good at what you do because it will threaten management. Go work there if you want to punch a clock, get some benefits and decent pto. Dont expect anyone to be brilliant or even smart. Just play the game and smile and ignore everyone. This is the only way not be eaten alive by the stress and threat of always not being good enough or having your position on the chopping block.
