Within a week of working in the position, management trying to get me to fire someone before I was able to talk to person and see if I could get a change from the person.
Other Project Mgrs work well, but management is micromanager with no trust in abilities
Freedom to work independently
Workload fairly distributed, but while position is supposed to have say, position is micromanaged
While a woman was working there as an intern, there was constant complaining about her work instead of teaching her - after all it was an intern position.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Many employees fit this category.
Overall compensation for your work
Good pay at least in the position that I was in.
Office / Work Environment
Office space good. Computer organization of files to complete projects very poor. Everyone nice except for boss.
Wasn't there long enough to know about vacations, but position is salary for 40 hours but you are expected to work very early in the morning to whenever at night. Lots of travel, however, expected to be in the office at 5PM even though running projects all over the tri-state area.
Many employees who are out in the field, rarely had to visit the office, but there was still alot of talk about management
The company was losing 1K's of money on older projects, that seemed to affect managements attitude. I was hoping to change this around with the projects that I would estimate and run but was not allowed to do because of micromanaged. Ideas were fluffed off, management knew best.
Yes - very safety oriented. Need at least OSHA10
The work is not challenging if you know what your doing, running many projects supervising many employees. Every project has weekly meetings on the site of the project. It is rewarding when tasks complete, the management makes one feel unneeded and unwanted all the time.
Inclusive / Diverse
Suggestions for improvement
- Have more trust in the employees. Listen to ideas. Better filing system for projects - listen to employee on how to set system up so that information could be found quickly and efficiently.
What I like about the company
The opportunity to help the company turn itself.
What I dislike about the company
The person who hired me, quit five days later because of being micromanaged - not allowing to do his work. After he left, the managers micromanaged me. Never had orientation or a meeting of expectations of the position. Very long hours - starting at 5:30AM most days and working to 5PM at night but only paid for 40 hours/week - salary. Actually spent a couple of hours working on Saturdays and Sundays too
