The best culture I've encountered so far. A friendly attitude and supportive environment make this a wonderful place to work, if you can do the work.
Support from management
Management is supportive and oriented toward solutions.
Teamwork is excellent. While any given individual should be able to do their assignment on their own there are people to support them if needed.
Freedom to work independently
Due to the nature of the work independent work is rarely feasible.
Meetings range from daily to semi-weekly depending on department, location and supervisor. Information provided ranges from the cafeteria schedule to safety reminders; focus on safety is high.
As hiring is based on merit or seniority depending on the position gender is not a factor.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Many employees are well into mid-life; this has no bearing on their treatment. Newer employees, if they are wise, do go to them for information and advice from time to time.
Frequent overtime and occasional weekends makes long-term plans without the use of vacation time difficult.
If you can do the work you will have job security by all appearances.
Due to the nature of the work in the factory total handicapped accessibility is untenable. Accommodations are available to an extent, however, and the company does what it can.
Safety is treated as a top priority, with frequent mandatory safety meetings and discussions of safety topics during shift meetings.
Inclusive / Diverse
Hiring is based on merit or seniority.
