Company Culture

Most are called to serve, but fear keeps them in line.

Support from management

Big projects gain big support.

Teamwork

The ADCOM or Administration Committee runs the show.

Freedom to work independently

There is no independent thinking.

Internal Communication

Overall, given that it's a small school, no real communication issues.

Gender Equality

While they appear to give deferential treatment to women, the above example belies the point.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They will keep you on even if it's not in the best interest of the students.

Career Development

Where there's no students, there's no career. But they do offer some tuition assistance and incentives for degree completion.

Overall compensation for your work

You don't expect much in ministry or education.

Office / Work Environment

Mostly new or renovated facilities. Beautiful setting in Southern WV. But the monastery like quietness is a bit absurd.

Environmental Friendliness

During my time, there was only one recycling container on campus, and I'm not sure that it didn't get emptied with the trash.

Work-Life Balance

Family is heralded, if you're not being overwhelmed by work.

Company Image

The college used to have a much more popular image, even in town. Recently, it's numbers have consistently dropped.

Job Security

There was a fear, collectively, of the President.

Handicapped Accessibility

There was a professor with disabilities who was also a veteran. The school had almost every building, if not every building fully accessible.

Workplace Safety

Snow crews and the like worked to keep accidents down.

Challenging Work

If you like Serving God, living on a budget, being around young people, and having a potentially heavy load, then you're home.

Inclusive / Diverse

Very much Anglo. Interestingly, females are not even encouraged to attend seminary, even simply for the education.

Suggestions for improvement

  • They seem to hire some of the worst fits for the job. Students constantly complain about the attitude and character of some of the same staff and faculty, including the president.

What I like about the company

The overall mission has remained the same from the beginning. The school has remained pure.

What I dislike about the company

The type of people they hire. The lack of leadership at times.
