What I like

The pay is on time direct deposit.

Have better interaction with the employees. Actually, try to solve our issues and not push us along.

The employees talk amongst themselves and solve their own issues because management won't. We depend on each other.

I am not to find of the way they handle technical issues. If there is a glitch in an app, it is deduction from our tiny pay. Like it is our fault?!

I am a contract worker for Appen Global. No benefits or guarantees- but it's remote work and very flexible.

What I like

Not applicable. I work from home. It's anonymous, faceless work.

What I dislike

Their one huge failing is communication. An e-mail here and there for guidelines- nothing else. Contacting support- you might get an answer, maybe not. Never timely.

What I like

Working for Appen was a generally positive experience. I learned a bit about social media and I was able to work remotely. The pay was decent for what I was doing and the flexibility of the hours was great. Overall it was a positive experience and a great

I didn't like the fact that because you are in a contract position you can be let go at any time without any warning. But, in fairness, this is spelled out to you when you sign up to work for Appen. The pay per hour could be a bit higher as well.

Suggestions for improvement

As I worked remotely I really can't speak to this. It would be great though if there was an online forum or chat room where other remote employees could have conversations and support each other.

There was pretty good support and communication whenever I had an technical issue. It sometimes took a day or two to get a response, but once I got a response the person working to help me was always helpful and friendly.

You can decide how much or how little you work as long as you put in at least an hour a day for 5 days a week.

This really depends on the companies needs as you are only a contractor, but they do usually reach out with new tasks and jobs.

Pay per hour could have been a bit higher, but seeing as the work was easy and done remotely the pay was fair.

Working remotely this is hard to judge.

Since I worked remotely I didn't really have co-workers, but any online communication I had with other employes was always pleasant and helpful.

Management was great, but it could sometimes take a day or two to hear from them if I had a question.

I worked remotely so my environment was my house and that's always comfotable for me. Seriously though I can't comment on their actual offices as I never went to one.

I was doing social media evaluation which is pretty easy. It is, however, repetative and boring at times.

Being a contractor means your position or job can be cut at any time. So stability isn't really a thing.

It sometimes took a day or two to get questions and concerns answered.

Again, since I worked remotely this is hard to judge, but I never noticed any issues with being treated unfairly due to my gender.

There wasn't much micromanaging. Once you passed your initial "quiz" and passed you're pretty much on your own and trusted to do your work correctly and in a timely manner.

I love that I can work from home as I am still a student. It allows me to have my own life and to schedule my work around my plans for the day.

I mean there is nothing I disapprove of, I just don't like how it is temporary.

It is impossible to get a raise here. You get hired in at a rate and you are locked in to that rate regardless.

What I like

Anytime I have a problem, they are quick to respond to my emails with guidance. When a project has run out they are good about finding me a new opportunity in a timely manner so I am not going long (or at all) without work.

What I dislike

There should be an opportunity to increase your pay rate based off longevity or other life experience gained during your time with them. They are strict about not working more than 5 hours a day on a single project, so when "overtime" hours are offered, you have to work 7 days a week to get the full hours, rather than allowing you to work 8 hours a day to work a 5 day week.

Suggestions for improvement

Should be able to work up to 8 hours a day on a project so as not to have to work every day during high volume. Allow pay increase opportunities. Be more clear about guidelines. Sometimes there is conflicting information given and it can be difficult to understand your responsibilities. Then the penalty is severe if you mess up because of confusion, that can be up to termination from the project after only first offense.

I enjoyed working from home and the flexibility in the hours. I also felt the pay was good for the type of work.

We did not get consistent feed back, long turn around from managers and constant changes in procedure made it hard to know how to proceed.
