Overall ATCC has a good culture, however, The group I was in was a government contract called Influenza Reagent Resources (IRR), which was terrible. Bad moral in the group and a horrible click of management. Several managers have left (or been fired) since then, so it may be better now
Coworkers are mostly nice, but there was some that tear down others to get ahead

For the most part, yes.
Communication between staff and management was not great. Management in IRR would say you can do something and then later say that they didn't say it.

The coworkers in ATCC that were there the longest were the ones who were throwing newer people under the bus to get ahead.
At ATCC, you may develop, but in IRR, most people quit after 1 year. Turn around time for employees was always a problem, which is why everyone seems to always be new, and they always have positions open.

the salary was under payment by around $15,000 per year at my next job

Management of IRR was a click and made staff feel out of place and not comfortable
Mon-Friday, day shift, never work weekends
The Work was actually very interesting and challenging. I enjoyed the work we did in IRR
Suggestions for improvement
- Don't treat the employees like children, listen to complaints and problems without retaliation, do not have so many supervisors vs employees, hire experienced and mature people to supervise
What I like about the company
The company as a whole seems nice, people are there for many years and seem satisfied.
What I dislike about the company
The department IRR is not good- it's separate from Atcc because it's a government contract. The management was horrible and I quit after 1 year because of it. With new management, it would be a fine place to work.
