The nature of this business is customer based. But the TOTAL focus is money and filling the apartments. If the building was full, we were golden. Lose a few customers and we were dirt.
Support from management
Both in house & corporate leadership were lacking. No support - just constant demands.
Their was no fostering of teamwork. It was sink or swim on your own.
Freedom to work independently
While directors led their own departments, eyes were always on you. There was never an opportunity passed to tell you what you did wrong. Praise was a rarity.
Terrible. Often corporate wide initiatives were put into place with little or no warning. More and more paperwork and/or procedures were piled on with no thought of the work load already in place.
Overall compensation for your work
The pay is TERRIBLE from the top down. The work is extremely demanding but the compensation does not make it worthwhile.
Office / Work Environment
The building was old and in need of renovation. Yet nothing significant was ever done in the. 7 years I was there. The interior needed painting, revamping, new carpets , new equipment. This lack of attention made it hard to warrant huge cost of living there.
No wi-fi was available anywhere in the building and there was only ONE trident computer available to residents.
HORRIBLE! as directors, we were expected to always be available 24/7. No additional pay or time off. It didn't really matter if you had made plans or not - you were expected to show up or there would be serious consequences.
It is all image.
Constant fear of write ups or firing no matter what the position.
The work was very challenging because you are dealing with older informed adults. But not
lack of in house or corporate support made it even more challenging.
Suggestions for improvement
- Live up yo your claims of valuing your employees. In 4 months, 5 directors ( including myself ) left the company yet NO ONE in corporate management sought any of us out to find out why. Exit interviews would be enlightening but the lack is the realization that they just don't care.
What I like about the company
What I dislike about the company
Too many demands in directors and staff, not enough real recognition for jobs well done, constant corporate oversight, never letting you just breathe and do your job. Changes to procedures, additional duties on top of already too- large jobs. No work/life balance to speak. Too much lip service, no follow through.
