- at&t mobility (Atlanta, GA)22.Feb 2019
At one point, I would have given this a 5, but at the end, it started to be more of a 'stay in your lane' environment
Freedom to work independently
Allowed for flexible hours and work at home
Lots of women and minority leaders
Definitely lots of opportunity for advancement and lots of training
Office / Work Environment
I worked from home the last 10 years, but when I was in the office, it was a nice environment
Very proud to have worked there!
When I worked there, lots of layoffs every year, so there was always that concern
Very challenging. If you don't want a challenge, don't apply!
Inclusive / Diverse
AT&T does an excellent job at supporting diversity
Suggestions for improvement
- The only improvement I can think of is to get more feedback about change from those that are actually doing the job before making major decisions.
What I like about the company
I started as a customer service rep on the phone back in 1993, and had many different positions over the years. Some as a manager, some as an individual contributor. I always felt that there was a lot of opportunity for growth within the company, and lots of training available. The health benefits were outstanding, which I learned the hard way when I got ill in 2014. The company also has discounts on various products like Direct TV, home phone, internet, etc. I also always felt that my salary/bonus was fair for the work that I did, and I never felt the need to look elsewhere. The company also has a work from home policy for some positions, which I was able to take advantage of for the last 10 years I was there. I won several trips based on input from peers/managers...Hilton Head, Cancun, and Hawaii. I developed friendships working for AT&T that I will have forever. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to work for this company.
What I dislike about the company
With any extremely large company, there is a lot of red tape to get things done. A lot of changes are made at high levels where I felt that those making the decisions didn't realize or care how it would affect those that actually do the work.
