The culture supported under a maintenance contract is - just do it the way new construction does. New build and maintenance are different. Company is imbred by nepotistic qualities.
Support from management
Direct management, great support - higher ups is lowsy. They are deaf to our concerns.
Freedom to work independently
I'm a self starter, so I get little to no guidance on a regular basis. Based on comms, I react and confirm that my efforts support current priorities. It's liberating to work in that environment, but it's often hampered by upper management desires.
Comms are decent depending on where you are, but my site has limited comms.
I'm treated as my boss' secretary by his boss. It's not the '60's.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I have not negative comments regarding apparent age issue. Despite my personal bias against individuals, the company appears to support employees it trusts regardless of age.
Nepotism and good ol' boy's club all around.
Overall compensation for your work
I've assessed a 15% differential between the amount of hours worked and actual compensation.
Office / Work Environment
I had roaches in my office and no janatorial services. I have purchased my own office supplies.
Non-existing. If you're a self-starter type, you won't have a life. You'll watch your less motivated peers leave at the 8 hr mark.
There is hope for improvement if antiquated methods are illiminated.
Limited life product w/ slow development of future business areas.
For my position, it is not handicap friendly due to industrial access, bending, kneeling, squating and lifting expectations. I do not recommend my particular position for individuals w/ physical limitations.
Running wires through a crush-impact door is not the best practice. Safety is definitely not forefront.
Not in a positive sense, but more of I shouldn't be doing 3 people's job, sacrificing work-life balance.
Suggestions for improvement
- Give your PMs spending power. Stay on top of your administration. Do not hide the true cost of operation (unpaid OT and holidays) to appear CHEAP. Christmas eve is a holiday to everyone but you - reconsider this Mr. Grinch.
What I like about the company
Tip of the spare technology as the product matures.
What I dislike about the company
Lack of processes and resources.
