There were opportunities in the form of sales competitions that were unrewarded. Despite being the top sales, there was an outright refusal to provide the promised reward.
Support from management
The highest management positions are selected based on nepotism. While I was not interested in a management position, our branch manager was passed over for a higher position, instead a much more inexperienced member was promoted simply because he was one of the owners sons.
You will feel like you are worthless if you try to get support from your coworkers.
Freedom to work independently
GPS on your trucks, constant micromanagement on your decisions.
Monthly meetings help to keep employees informed.
I have never seen a female technician. None of the management is female.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Age does not seem to be an issue.
There is no upwards momentum unless you are family.
Overall compensation for your work
2 weeks a year vacation until you reach.... 20 years??
They cover HALF of the medical insurance. No 401k matching. Salaries are paid on time.
Office / Work Environment
The handheld computer system is developed in-house and is prone to failure. The safety equipment provided is excellent.
One area that the company excels at is the environment, they have received recognition for their efforts.
Vacation will be blocked out during 'critical' times of the year. Work hours last until you are finished with your daily responsibilities while the management will check out early. You will be required to work on call shifts that extend beyond normal work hours and over holidays and weekends.
No one seemed to enjoy working there, but it was a steady paycheck.
The job was stable. I got paid for my accounts.
The office was located on the second floor of a warehouse building. No ramps anywhere.
The company expresses a desire to comply, it is up to each employee to practice safety standards.
Sometimes the work becomes very mundane and rote. Other times you may feel accomplishment after solving a customer complaint, but rarely.

- Stop promoting based on nepotism. Your children are not always going to be the most worthy candidates for a position.
What I like about the company
I liked the personal atmosphere. If you are a people-oriented person, this job would be great for you.
What I dislike about the company
When I was first hired at Auto-Chlor, I was told to treat my route as if it was my own personal business, but it eventually resulted in micro-management techniques that intruded upon your personal space.
