It tends to be a cult. If you dont pretend you're happy 24/7 Aveda gets upset with you. Very unorganized and feels like high school.
Support from management
None. They don't know what they are doing at all and ask lower level employees who have been their the longest what to do and take the credit.
People love to steal others ideas and never give credit where its due.
Freedom to work independently
If you enjoy being micromanaged to the point where you have to tell people when you go to the bathroom, you'll love this place.
All the departments dislike one another and try to sabotage each other.
They play favorites
Attitude towards older colleagues
Loved working with older colleagues because they would tend to keep the company in line but then get in trouble for it
Everyone I work with kept asking for advancement but kept getting the run around. Some of us had cosmetology licenses and a bachelors degree but they would always pick someone from outside the company who knew nothing about the beauty industry
Overall compensation for your work
Don't pay well at all and overpaid the employees who didnt work nearly as hard as everyone else
Office / Work Environment
Could never find a computer to work at because it was either broken/not enough of them, rodent and bugs problems majority of the time (roaches, rats, fruit flies), people tend to steal lunches daily
Tried to because thats our mission but majority of time never recycled properly
Tend to be good about giving days requested off but I'm the type of person who always gives at least 2-3 months notice
They make the brand seem great but its not for everyone
They terminated my position because the company split.
There was a elevator to get to the 2nd floor that was either broken or you would get stuck in 90% of the time and had to scream for help since you couldnt get cell reception.
Students brought lots of interesting circumstances to the school and made you uncomfortable at times (ex:crazy ex boyfriends of students, homeless people in the back of parking lots making comments to everyone)
At times it was during busy season but overall just repetitive and unsatisfying. Felt like groundhog day 10 months out of the year.
Inclusive / Diverse
The only people who move up in the company have to look a certain way and be happy all the time
Suggestions for improvement
- They know what they need to do but wont
What I like about the company
Gave health insurance for workers at 30 hours a week or more. Many people I worked with needed that and it made an impact for them. Could've changed since I left though...You and your coworkers felt like family and always watched out for one another
What I dislike about the company
No opportunity, terrible pay
