Company Culture

The company is smaller and has a team of people that for the most part get along and value each other. I disagree with previous reviews as the culture is fun and collaborative - if you make an effort, it is reciprocated as a number of the staff are friends. The company specializes in beverage alcohol with a cool list of clients which is rare for an agency located where it is. No company is perfect and while there are flaws, management is approachable and within reach. Those that work hard get recognized, and there is an opportunity to learn a lot and move up.

Teamwork

The company has a lot of great employees that work hard. While the pace is fast and can be stressful at times, I think that the teams work well together to get things done.

Freedom to work independently

Again, if you work hard and prove yourself, you are given the freedom to manage your business and clients. Being a small company, management does get involved in all business related matters.

Overall compensation for your work

Compensation is fair based on experience.

Work-Life Balance

I have had a positive experience and believe that if you work hard and prove that you can get your work done, there is flexibility and trust. I have been told by management that “family comes first” and believe that the company values the balance.

Company Image

Long standing clients contribute to an overall positive company image within the industry, proven by a high number of referrals in a niche business.
On sites like this and Glassdoor, I feel that the company is misrepresented. People tend to only review things when it is negative. There is room for improvement and change, but some of the comments below stem from one or two employees that had a negative, miserable mindset and attitude at work.

Challenging Work

For those who enjoy Marketing, there is challenging work that involves brainstorming and preparing programming plans for larger brands. The work is interesting and inspires creativity. Some of the more process-oriented roles may feel differently, but the company is growing its digital portfolio which offers challenges as well.

What I like about the company

The company has expertise in a niche area which provides opportunities with major companies - the actual work is and clients are cool. Due to being a smaller company, a lot of people are close and it makes for a fun, friendly environment.

What I dislike about the company

It is challenging to replace good talent when people move on - the nature of most agencies in the industry is that it employs a lot of younger staff. Because of this there can be turnover which makes it stressful when workload is heavy and additional support is needed.

Company Culture

Company culture is good if your workload allows you to participate in the fun. If you not accepted by the in crowd you will not be considered for promotion. Worse the in-crowd will refuse to train or help you so you will either get frustrated and quit or be fired as you've been set up to fail.

Support from management

This has declined significantly in the past 3 years, but was never great unless you are a favorite.

Teamwork

Most people are out for themselves. Some are out for their immediate team only but will let others drown.

Freedom to work independently

Varies by your depatment as well as by the person.

Internal Communication

Horrible. Repeated requests for updates are ignored. Due to the industry this has legal ramifitions and leads to costly errors.

Gender Equality

Company promotes themselves as women owned, but women don't have a voice, except for 2 of them- the owner and a director.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Awful. Culture focused on blaming when things go wrong instead of fixing problems.

Career Development

Good for certain people, but they are in the minority. Company seems to prefer to develop from entry level, it's a dead end for anyone else.

Overall compensation for your work

Compared to other agencies in the area, avid offers generous compensation.

Office / Work Environment

Very high school. Rumor spreading, gossiping, embaressing colleagues in a public space is never punished or even discouraged.

Environmental Friendliness

A lot of friendly people, but a lot of high school type issues as well.

Work-Life Balance

This varies. Some people get PTO rejected frequently, some never do. Some come in late, take a long lunch and still leave on time every day, others are in the office until 8pm.

Company Image

Not well known in the area, but not a negative image. Out of date website, poor social media presence with posts that aren't best practice.

Job Security

On average one person is fired per year. They usually are in the same department, and one was fired simply as a scapegoat. Everyone else is pretty secure.

Handicapped Accessibility

A handicap persom would be unable to enter the building without assistance. This is not a reflection on Avid, as they rent.

Workplace Safety

Light fixtures hanging down from the ceiling, mold issues when it rains. Again this is more on the building than the company.

Challenging Work

The work is interesting due to the industry, but it is a lot of administrative amd tedious tasks.

Inclusive / Diverse

Not diverse at all. The recent Company restructure removed most women from their mangement roles, but did not negativly impact any of the men. Out of 8 men, 5 are in upper management/leadership positions. The other 40 employees are women, but only 2 are on the leadership team.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Hire human resources. Drain the swamp in management. Invest in people who deserve it, not just those who suck up.

What I like about the company

A lot of good people, but it's sad to see more go than stay.

What I dislike about the company

New employees only have about a 50% chance of lasting a year. If they have previous experience they are even more liekly to leave quickly.
Job postings say flexible schedule, but that's not true.

Company Culture

Micromanagement and zero trust for employees. If your opinion is not "YES, MASTER" - you become an outcast and are shut out

Support from management

Terrible management. The upper management is all friends of the partners. A few of them have absolutely no idea what they are doing and are completely clueless. They're not qualified to manage anything.

Teamwork

Every one for their self in this place

Freedom to work independently

Absolutely none. Managing partner approves everything and makes all decisions. No say in any thing you do.

Internal Communication

Terrible

Career Development

This place is a dead end. The biggest career move you can make here is to leave.

Overall compensation for your work

Pays below average.

Office / Work Environment

Nice office if you place company culture aside.

Work-Life Balance

Long hours, short deadlines, interrupts your time off. Beware: your vacations (if they let you take them) are consistently interrupted by emails and calls from the company. They won't let you take your hours forward AND they don't have real PTO rollover. Your rollover hours will expire within a couple months of the start of the new year - with no cashout.

Company Image

Read the reviews. They are all true. Your results will not vary. You have been warned.

Job Security

If you like a dead end job that will leave you depressed at the end of the day then this place is for you.

Challenging Work

Monotonous. Every project is identical and held to the lowest standards.

Inclusive / Diverse

Not very diverse.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Trust your people. Get rid of the clueless director who likes to hear herself talk. Replace bad managers before it's too late

What I like about the company

We had some very friendly and talented coworkers but they all quit

What I dislike about the company

Micromanagement, bad compensation, culture of distrust, bad benefits
