Loved the family atmosphere and the wonderful gatherings, on AND off campus.
Support from management
My manager ALWAYS had my back, as well as HIS managers! We were not "separated" by management levels. Upper level managers interacted with us, as well. We were always kept informed as best as possible.
Our group was top notch at teamwork. Everyone always helping each other out.
Freedom to work independently
My manager truly believed in our skills, and always gave us the freedom to do what it takes, to get the job done. And he was always readily available for advice, tips, insight, and approvals.
Communication was always good. Typical company miscommunications (between divisions) would sometimes happen. But the managers pretty much kept everyone informed, as best as possible.
As far as I could see, the company was VERY strong on gender equality.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Respect for older employees was very high, especially to those with many years of experience of the job.
Did not really see room for career growth at our division, for the immediate future, but there were possibilities on the horizon. Most of the career growth was happening at the Canada division.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation for my work was generally good. Our particular division probably would have compensated better, but they were under the salary "guide" of the corporate office, in Canada.
Office / Work Environment
Typical cubicle office environment. Sometimes a little noisy, due to the relaxed atmosphere, which sometimes made it hard to carry phone conversations with suppliers. But the environment of a relaxed atmosphere always outweighed the slight inconvenience of noisy phone calls.
The company believes in being "green". They may not have as much green processes in place as some companies, but they are doing their part to achieve a green environment.
Excellent work-life balance! Being like a small family, we encouraged each other to take care of home life, when needed. Because we could always rally and pick up the slack for a "teammate", that would allow the person to take care of any home life issues. A big part of that privilege, was due to our manager, who strongly believes in a well balanced work/home life.
The company's image was not high-profile within the consumer sector, but was rising fast in the commercial/private sector. Given that, I was very proud and excited about the products we manufactured, and how integral our products are within the high-security industry.
Being that the company was one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., job security was high, as long as I was performing to the expectations of my job requirements.
The building is very handicap friendly.
The company is in strict compliance of workplace safety. It is one of the metrics they strongly measure themselves, and ALWAYS striving for 100% compliance.
The work is VERY challenging and fast-paced, due to a fast-rising company. The reward is the satisfaction of getting the job done successfully, in order to get the products built and shipped on time.
Inclusive / Diverse
The company always had solid processes in place, but was open to any ideas that might improve the process.
Suggestions for improvement
- The only improvement I could suggest, is better communication and coordination between divisions (Canada and Texas).
What I like about the company
I loved everything about this company. Had I not had to relocate out-of-state, I would have loved to retire there.
What I dislike about the company
The only dislike I could say I had, was corporate management decisions. Sometimes decisions were made that challenged the work process and work load at our lower levels. But that happens at almost any company.
