You will only get their support if it's in their individual department targets or objectives. A very narrow minded view, instead of having a company wide perception.
In the past, employees were asked to work during company wide unpaid shut down - unpaid!

Friends hire friends. If you are not a "insider" your career path is limited.
Suggestions for improvement
- Start listening to customers and employees! Customers will tell you what they need and motivated employees will make it happen with guidance, support and appreciation.
What I like about the company
Most of the regular none management employees are very pleasant to work with. Interesting technology.
What I dislike about the company
Sr. Management's lack of industry insight and creative approach for industry down cycles (I.e. We need to save the quarter, let's fire people to reduce the cost. Leads to, we can't hold/hire talented people and therefore lack on timely development and slow production.)
