Military style management and very poor moral throughout staffing in both maintenance and leasing operations. Constant negative feedback with little positive or recognition. Plan on working. 12 hours a day with zero appreciation.
Support from management
There was very little training or support so their expectations and your ability to succeed in the Facility Management position was close to impossible. U were talked down to and embarrasses in front of your employees. Because most of upper management was former military it operates more like the military where they ordered and yelled at you. Total lack of respect not a fit coming from Multifamily Housing.
There was little teamwork between the facility manager and the community manager who was in charge of the entire community. High expectations and demands with no training or support.
Overall compensation for your work
Though on paper the benefits look good with generous time off initiatives, you are not allowed to take time off.
My grandmother passed away and I was written up and had to have a conference call w/ the HR manager. They said they were a fami my oriented company but I was written up again 6 months later when I had to take the first day off u scheduled since my grandmothers funeral. Both my wife and my daughter had high fever and the stomach flu so I stayed home to care for them. At this point after dedicating myself to my work those entire 6 months n it taking any. L desk all time I decided to look for another job.
No balance, worked 12 to 15 hours a day, slept and did it all over again the next day. Took a day and a 1/2 off to attend my grandmothers funeral and was written up because I didn't give sufficient notice. She died suddenly so it was impossible to give notice.
Company reflected a go of image on line when researching the position but the culture and moral of almost every employee on my staff when I arrived was horrible. I had to replace 40 of a staff of 32 and wasn't long before each of them I hired became very negative as well. You
If u are willing to be treated with no respect, talked down to constantly, have regional management verbally threaten you and put their fingers in your face and chest while yelling at you like you're a solder in boot camp then you will have a long career and probably get promoted over someone more qualified. I saw this first hand and also experienced this. Worst property management company I ever know w/ 32 years in this business.
Suggestions for improvement
- Company moral and culture starts at the top of the corporate management chain. I met other Favility Managers from Florida and Texas and their experiences were the same as mine so this was not a CT bases isolated issue. The owners need to evaluate who is working for them and change the company from with in corporate management.
What I like about the company
The only thing was the compensation but I learned the old saying money isn't every thing so I resigned after 14 months.
What I dislike about the company
The impression given in line and during the interview process was very unrealistic.
My rights as an employee were violated several times.
Their employee hand book and core values are not up held by management or the human resource department. Witnessed and experienced both company and state labor laws violated and as a manager had no power to correct the issues.
