Company Culture

There was no concern for patients. MDs were more interested in discussing how to invest their money

Teamwork

same as above

Internal Communication

NO interest in teaching if you were female or did not matriculate from the U of A system

Attitude towards older colleagues

The older MDs were encouraging gender discrimination along with encouraging bad behaviour

Career Development

it suffered greatly

Environmental Friendliness

The nurses were wonderful along with some of the MAs.

Work-Life Balance

No one was interested in teaching the system, but I was always being insulted for not knowing things and worked non-stop until exhaustion.

Company Image

This clinic prided itself on bringing the most money every year. They valued productivity, not caring and compassionate physicians

Challenging Work

I was left to my figure everything out on my own. It is a huge university system.

Suggestions for improvement

  • When I was working there, I had to learn two EMR systems and was forced to learn EPIC in less than one week. It was a mess. I was new and shot out of a cannon into chaos and no one cared.

What I like about the company

I enjoyed the patients, despite the horrors behind closed doors. I really enjoyed working with the nurses and most of the MA. The clinic itself was beautiful and had a nice setup, with the exception of sharing an office. I also enjoyed working with the sub-specialists.

What I dislike about the company

There was a lot of corruption in the system at the time in which I worked. I also do not feel that a lot of appropriations were being put toward patient care as they should have.

Company Culture

This Company can not retain employees/staff due to chaotic and unorganized departments and management. Management does not provide needed and required support to nurses. Nurse to patient ratios are unreasonable and unsafe. Departments are always understaffed and overworked. Supply rooms do not contian the necessary supplies nurses require to do their jobs timely. Acuity of patients are not properly assigned. Patients are not properly sent to the appropriate floors. Every department ends up being a dumping ground of patients with varying disease process and care required and the floors are not properly staffed, trained or supported. Banner has become such a large corporation, they are no longer interested in actual patient care but profits with the least amount of expenditures and patient survey cards. They do not listen to their employees concerns but rather dismiss the employees and treat the employees as the problem. Nurse to patient ratios on MedSurg floors are one nurse to 5-6 patients. These patients vary from high acuity to hospice to behavioral, all on one nurse with no CNA coverage or assistance. If you are sick, Banner is not the hospital.

Support from management

Support from management, that is a joke.

Teamwork

Team work is placed on the overworked staff. That really is not the definition of teamwork.

Freedom to work independently

Only way you are working is independently, too short staffed to have assistance.

Internal Communication

Internal communication praises what propaganda they want to solicit, not really dealing with reality occurring on the units and what nurses, doctors and staff have to endure to try and do their jobs.

Overall compensation for your work

Not even the norm in the industry. Everyone knows that Banner pays the least in the valley with unreasonable expectations. Raises, they make it impossible to exceed in any area so as not to pay you or advance your career because then they would be losing a working horse on the floor.

Work-Life Balance

Banner could care less about work-life balance. Look at the internal notices of short staffing and the need for people to work overtime and pick up extra shifts. Banner can not even staff normal shifts. Banner does not want people to use their PTO time.

Job Security

No one has your back.

Workplace Safety

Not enough computers for nurses on the floors. Not enough space for nurses to sit and work. Computer Wow's are few and non functioning for the most part. Want to scan medications, try finding a working scanner. It's like a third world country ....

Challenging Work

Being overworked and under supported is the challenge.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Nurse to patient ratios need to be adjusted. Properly staff units. Properly assign patients to nurses taking acuity and patient disease process into consideration.

What I like about the company

Nothing

What I dislike about the company

Management and the complete disregard for their entire purpose - quality patient care.

Company Culture

The culture is divisive, management does not support staff

Support from management

No consistency in management staff, continuously changing as people are fired or leave, it is frequently impossible to find a mnager to speak to in real time...always in meetings

Teamwork

has been destroyed since banner bought the University of Arizona Medical Center

Overall compensation for your work

My pay actually decreased over the past 3 yrs.

Office / Work Environment

Case management: toxic work environment, no support from management and the physical environment is unacceptable..no office or dedicated area for individual case managers. Frequently difficult to find an available computer and phone. IT department and recent switch to Cerner...Cerner frequently crashes and contacting a person in IT can take up to an hour.

Job Security

Actually great job security as experienced staff continues to run away from this organization. There are frequently more managers than frontline case management staff

Suggestions for improvement

  • Banner needs to sell this once fine academic hospital to a corporation with a good reputation and experience running academic institutions: the rumor is that Kaiser may be interested in buying.

What I like about the company

Absolutely nothing

What I dislike about the company

The lack of respect and value demonstrated to nursing. We are looked upon as little better than task do-ers and the general impression given by management is that we are all replaceable. Banner continuously brushes safety concerns under the rug.
