Company thrives on pitting employees against each other.
Support from management
There is virtually no support from management.
Unless you are very lucky, your "team" will sell you out to take credit for your work.
Freedom to work independently
Only good part - you are left to work as you need. I'd like to say it was from trust, but it is really from lack of direction.
There is none.
Sure, they promote women. Unfortunately I have yet to see more than one or two management that was qualified for their position.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The older the better. If you are younger and full of ideas, you will find yourself less welcome.
There is little to no development except by attrition. If you are there long enough you will be promoted... maybe... but otherwise consider it a temp job.
Overall compensation for your work
Okay, I will admit that they pay a fare market wage. Unfortunately, they balance that by lack of benefits, really poor health insurance, and a 401k *OR* Profit Share option - you can't have both.
Office / Work Environment
Nice building. Mostly clean. "Bottom Level" employees are not allowed on the same floor as managers, so don't believe the "open door" line.
Yeah, they recycle.
There is some work life balance if you are upper management or long-time employee from founding days. If not, your balance is more work than life.
BBSI once had an OK reputation, but has been in steady decline. They are currently being investigated by the SEC for fraud, among other issues.
No security. You are disposable.
Yeah, sure. You can get a wheel chair down most aisles.
Overall safe, except for vulgar comments/unwelcome advances from facilities manager.
The challenge from this work comes not from the difficulty, but from knowing what you are supposed to be doing. Goals are randomly changed with little or no communication, (constructive) feedback is nonexistent, and all you can do is hope for the best.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diverse as in they do hire minority people if they have to. Not inclusive at best of times. Everyone is kept apart and against each other.
Suggestions for improvement
- The board of directors should clean house and literally fire every manager and about half the long-term employees and start over.
What I like about the company
The only good thing was the location from my home, and that I got to meet a couple of great people -- all of whom have since left the company as well.
What I dislike about the company
Management is disconnected from reality - they gossip and spread confidential information to other employees, and keep employees in-fighting to maintain control -- if they are to busy fighting each other, they won't fight management. Most mangers are not well suited/qualified for their positions - one literally screams at his employees out loud. You have to be a "good ole boy" to get any equal/fair treatment. I seriously doubt the future of the company.
