Company culture was broken. It was the norm for everyone to work 10-12 hours days every day.
Support from management
Training was nonexistent to problematic. Frequently got conflicting reports from managers.
Freedom to work independently
The only times I was ever satisfied was when I was doing field work by myself or with municipal employees.
Frequently got conflicting project information.
Attempts to diversify my skills within the company were met with derision. Transferring departments was discouraged.
Overall compensation for your work
Industry average pay, well below average benefits.
Office / Work Environment
The building was nice and well stocked and maintained.
Should be a negative thirty.
The rule was through fear that you could get fired at any moment.
I actually really enjoyed the work, it was just a terrible environment.
Inclusive / Diverse
In a company of about 200 people there were zero non-white people when I worked there and only 5-10 women in technical roles.
Suggestions for improvement
- Flex hours, work from home, and a business model that doesn't involve everyone working two free hours every day.
What I like about the company
I really enjoyed most of the work and the clients.
What I dislike about the company
The company culture and work environment was unbearable. The company lacked diversity and I never felt comfortable there as a non-straight individual.
