They try to follow company culture as much as possible.
Support from management
Leadership that makes decisions is non-nursing and only sees the financial side, our nurse managers hands are tied frequently when he tries to help nursing and is ineffective.
Our teamwork is stellar.
This is a female dominated field but it can feel like the small amount of males we do have here get preferential treatment.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There needs to be more cohesion between day/night shift, our charge nurses are guilty of promoting negativity between the two, I've seen it first hand.
Charge nurses is at the top, at this facility.

Office / Work Environment
Our ratios are difficult to manage with the acuity of care required.
People think we're a nursing home, we are the furthest from! Our patients are chronically I'll and very sick. Some are critical care. A lot of nurse who float here refuse to come back. It can be very hard work.
While we have job security as nurses, we are cancelled for shifts very frequently die to low census. I cannot store enough PTO to take a vacation.
While they encourage safety, at times you can be put in compromising situations with patient conditions and back support remains a concern for all medical personnel.
We work very hard to keep our patients cared for and safe.
Suggestions for improvement
- Consistency in management and following policy and procedure 100% if the time instead of when it's convenient...
What I like about the company
The teamwork and my coworkers are fantastic.
What I dislike about the company
Slow season shorts our hours, PTO and sometimes pay. Some rules are inconsistent and applied to some but not others.
