Company Culture

My direct coworkers in my office are largely shallow, self-serving, and focused only on their bottom line/profit margin.

Support from management

Management only intervenes if I am going to get in the way of a billing record

Teamwork

Coworkers are not allowed to exchange numbers and are threatened with sanctions if they attempt to hold each other accountable rather than mandating that office staff be dragged in to every situation

Freedom to work independently

Micromanagement has driven away many coworkers and isn’t getting any better

Internal Communication

Only feedback received is negative, usually months after the fact, and seemingly only to serve a thought out purposes rather than being genuinely about helping me improve

Career Development

There is no opportunity to grow in your career if you aren’t willing to see dollars over outcomes

Overall compensation for your work

I get paid average for my position and experience

Office / Work Environment

Office winter year round and notes left not to adjust the thermostat. Meanwhile teeth are chattering

Environmental Friendliness

Everything goes in the trash. I was forbidden from starting a recycling program, actually.

Work-Life Balance

On call 24/7 for the clients I am assigned

Company Image

I am looking for a new job

Handicapped Accessibility

The accommodations are difficult

Workplace Safety

Working conditions for fiend staff are overlooked at the desire to turn profit

Challenging Work

I love that my position constantly pushes me to go further to create better circumstances and outcomes for both clients and field staff

Inclusive / Diverse

The African American field staff are paid less over and over again than their Caucasian counterpart

Suggestions for improvement

  • See previous comments regarding ways conditions for direct care workers/field staff could be improved upon

What I like about the company

I love touching people’s lives, helping them live at home, and advocating for field staff to create better working conditions

What I dislike about the company

Field staff are not offered enough PTO time to allow for any interruption in their normal lives without exhaustive consequences to their accrued time off, they are not considered “full time” no matter how many hours/years they put in, and their benefits are too expensive to afford while only providing limited coverage. And they get a 25 cent raise per year, if anything. Less than the cost of living increase we all must face. However yearly office staff celebrations are all expenses paid and ridiculous, unthoughtful/unneeded gifts (ex. a car dash camera) are given to office staff for revenue records.

Company Culture

From a broad perspective the company puts forth positive sounding slogans. But on a daily basis the local office fails to make individual employees feel important. Pay is low, benefits only fair. Office staff like to pull power plays over field staff.

Support from management

I don't feel I can talk openly with my supervisor.

Teamwork

Conflict between staff is largely ignored.

Freedom to work independently

Work is independent as field staff work in the clients home. However, office staff make sure you know you are being monitored.

Internal Communication

I had a client call in to leave a compliment for my care and when the office staff gave me the recognition she let slip it had been sitting on her desk for 6 months.

Overall compensation for your work

I had to go into the office and complain to get a pay raise. Then I found out staff who is new with the company, with lower credentials and much fewer tasks to do is being paid more.

Work-Life Balance

When office staff attempt to fill open shifts they have no regard for how many hours you have worked in a day or week.

Challenging Work

I work with a client that requires a lot of skilled care so I find it challenging and satisfying.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The move to electronic charting should have been more comprehensive. There should not be any more paper charting in the home. This is 2019!There should be something to make the field employees feel appreciated regularly. There are quite a bit of rewards offered to staff in the office. Bring it to us, don't make us compete for rewards or have to chase it down in the office.

What I like about the company

I have had 2 long term clients with the company. Both have been very rewarding experiences. I feel I really make a difference in my clients life.

What I dislike about the company

It would be nice to be able to speak openly to a supervisor about staff issues in a clients home.It would also be nice to get competitive wage. It would be helpful to staff if it was recognized that even though they were hired on as part time they have steadily worked full time hours but have been denied the anility to accrue sick time and any other full time benefits.

Company Culture

I normally do home visit but there are time I work in the center and I have helpful coworkers. Some of the BCBA are helpful as well.

Support from management

I normally do home visit but there are time I work in the center and I have helpful coworkers. Some of the BCBA are helpful as well.

Teamwork

I sometimes think that the office staff share too much information about other workers

Freedom to work independently

We are micro-managed if in the center but working independently is much better at an in-home setting

Internal Communication

At Bayada we find out a lot of information late and a lot of the information we should get from office staff is poorly communicated

Gender Equality

The company is made up of mostly women that are behavior therapist

Attitude towards older colleagues

I dont know if we have very manh people that are 45 or older

Career Development

There is opportunity for growth but I have had to work for another company in order to get the full support I needed in order to progress with my field

Office / Work Environment

All depends if you are in the center or in clients home. If you are in the homes then you have to adjust to how clients live

Environmental Friendliness

I have never heard talk about environmental concerns at my location

Work-Life Balance

Allowed to take time off when needed usually and work is flexible

Company Image

There is good and bad about the job but overall it is an ok company to work for

Challenging Work

I love what I do as a behavior therapist so most days don't really seem like work for me.

Inclusive / Diverse

I believe Bayada does a very good job at allowing us to express our opinions

Suggestions for improvement

  • If anything I would change the fact that we don't have an on-site daycare because many of us need childcare in order to work.

What I like about the company

The company paid out for maternity leave for 6 weeks when I had my baby. They have also been very patience with my lack of childcare from time to time. Childcare is very hard to come by in Honolulu but they allowed me the time to find another sitter or nanny when mine quit.

What I dislike about the company

I don't like that there is a break down in communication with office staff and field employees. For those of us in the field, need time off, or need to change our schedule we depend on the office staff to make that happen and there has been time that request was not done but field employee were blamed or request was not giving because of failure to document it.
