Suggestions for improvement
- More staffing. Many people have left because of staffing, which only makes it worse. We have to find ways to keep the people already there. While offering bonuses for staff to pick up extra shifts helps, it only goes so far. People are tired. Mistakes happen and people get short tempered when they are tired. Spend the money from bonuses and travel staff on the staff already there or to hire more permanent staff. Hospitals run 24/7. All departments should be open and fully or at least partially functional 24/7. We need PT, social workers, stock, etc 24/7. When the directors and management go home we don’t stop working. We need everything and all departments available to improve throughput. Waiting many hours or even days for tests, procedures, equipment, etc only slows down the flow and causes more work and frustration. All hospital personnel should be required every couple years to shadow staff in departments that affect their work. Better understanding of how other areas Work leads to more compassion and better teamwork. All departments have challenges but they are different. Walking in someone else’s shoes helps everyone to understand why it might take so long for something or what we can do to help improve the flow for the whole hospital. Also, someone who isn’t so close to an issue can sometimes help with unique solutions.
What I like about the company
Work with great people. My management takes time to work with you on improving issues that come up. They ask for input and actually use it. Are honest and up front if they can’t accommodate your suggestions. Have helped with my career growth by allowing time off, paying for some and in forgivable loans.
