The boss/owner was a demanding leader that made sure everyone was on task.
Support from management
The boss would provide daily input.
The office staff and crew members worked together well.
Freedom to work independently
After our daily meeting, I was entrusted with making bids and managing the crews.
The communication was ok, but more input would have been beneficial.
I don't believe that the one female employee would have been considered to anything but the secretarial position.
Attitude towards older colleagues
We didn't have any older employees in our office or on the crew.
The company allowed the other PMs to take on challenges that they felt ready for them.
Overall compensation for your work
My compensation was satisfactory for my experience at the time.
Office / Work Environment
I had a very functional space that allowed me to work without distraction.
The environment didn't seem to be a major priority unless it was required by the customer.
The major priority was to "Get the job done".
I felt that my experiences were very worthwhile and that it provided me with many challenges to improve my skills.
I am not working for this company at this time. There was a lay-off when the economy began to go downhill.
The company office was on the ground level and would have worked well for a disabled person.
The company made safety regulations were followed by office and crew members.
The job provided as much challenge as I was willing to take on.
Inclusive / Diverse
The boss kept pretty strict guidelines on how things were to be done.
Suggestions for improvement
- Work more closely with the office staff to secure bids and manage the crews.
What I like about the company
Bedford Construction gave me opportunity to challenge and improve my skills.
What I dislike about the company
They were a small, struggling company that didn't have a large customer base. We had to work extremely hard to create new customers.
