Suggestions for improvement
- I would love a more liberal public transportation policy. Currently, the company only chips in $15 per pass, and as I come in on the commuter rail (and then on the subway), my monthly pass is quite expensive. It would be nice to reinforce environmental conservation by valuing use of public transportation over driving and parking.
What I like about the company
The work-life balance is absolutely the best at Berklee. Sometimes the job is so busy that you lose the balance a little bit, but management gives a little extra time off when things slow a bit to help you out. They provide you with a laptop to bring home and work remotely when possible, and that helps, because if you have an appointment or commitment, you can work most of the day from home around that so you don't have to lose a half or full-day of work. My department has wonderful people around me, and I haven't met one person at the college that is difficult to work with. They take a lot of care in hiring pleasant people who enjoy working as a team, and they also have a wonderful "leadership program"" to help you grow professionally."
What I dislike about the company
The college has merged with another college, and we are experiencing growing pains. We are working very hard to get all systems combined, however, there are a lot of hoops to jump through, and management hasn't got the communication channels 100% open between the two schools yet. Sometimes A college doesn't know what B college is doing.
