This was promised to be a priority each year and each year it was the last thing on any list. So much so that even if you wanted to take the PTO you have available, you are viewed as not being a team player for taking to much time. Or you are told that just because you have PTO available doesn't mean you get to use it!
Work life balance was conveyed as a priority yet it was the first thing to disappear each year. Challenging work? The only challenge was working with the Best Buy Corp team in getting structural issues resolved from within the company- it would literally take days and more than 25 phone calls or emails to resolves a delivery issue(which happens at least 5 times per week per store). In many cases if the stores had the atonamy to resolve at their level, it would have been cheaper and quicker to rent a truck and pick up the delivery product and deliver it ourselves. On the topic of socially aware, no! Best Buy has not focused on today's social media in quite a while. The focus is still email blasts which is now outdated by about 10years. The only social media focus Best Buy has is to have a team solely dedicated to the defensive play against the negative social media. Best Buy has been playing defense in all aspects of the business rather than playing offense!
