Room for advancement...if you're willing to sell your soul and family life to the company.
Overall compensation for your work
Too much bonus money for upper mgmt., while the rest of us get measly .20-.25 annual "merit" increases. lol
Customers incorrectly expect our pricing to be similar to a "dollar store!" WAKE UP. People! It's NOT a dollar store.
Not what it should be...Mgmt. always asking for MORE productivity.
Monthly Safety meetings
Hugely excessive daily tasks from management (in Task Manager) Corporate and customers control almost every minute of your day. Our ASM-Merchandising has to spend almost every minute of his day setting planograms, and helping load large furniture items into vehicles, due to purposeful under-staffing from Corporate!
Suggestions for improvement
- Sixty-five hours weekly budget for the Furniture Dept. is not NEARLY enough to provide minimal service for our customers and to maintain standards. The department is (supposedly) open for business 83 hours/wk. Recently issued topstock guidelines are unattainable without more DTS labor hours. This task alone requires at least 15 additional hours than the previous expectations.
What I like about the company
Benefits and 20% employee discount are the ONLY pluses!
What I dislike about the company
Upper management has too much focus on earnings for our board members (too many of them) and stockholders...but little concern for the daily lives and low income of those in the trenches. We have the LOWEST starting pay of any of the 20 or so retailers and fast-food operations in our immediate area.
