Suggestions for improvement
- I feel like the company‘s overall policies and culture are meant to be well. The problem is implementing these things at every location. I would say the biggest thing the company could use is more oversight from the higher ups. It’s always a frantic day when you know someone from corporate or HR is coming and quite frankly it shouldn’t be. You should be ready at any moment for anybody to take stock in your restaurant. I feel as though when we find out somebody like that is coming we spend a lot of time trying to make the place presentable when in all reality it should already be that way.
What I like about the company
I applied, got the job and started working all in about a weeks span of time. It was perfect at the time because I needed to start working fairly immediately. I have worked there for 2 years and it was easy, once I showed my work ethic, to gain more positions and responsibilities within the company. Example: I got hired on as a server and within 1 month I was also doing their bookkeeping. About 2 months after that I also began supervising from time to time, per request from my general manager. I feel as though if you WANT more and are willing to cover for others etc. that you can advance at a pretty quickly within the company.
What I dislike about the company
I feel like this question is highly reliant on which location you work out. At the location that I am currently working at one of its biggest downfalls is that it might as well be call “Bjs: high school again”. I feel like if you’re not willing to suck up to management and or are not willing or able to step out of your own schedule to accommodate there’s then you may be pushed to the wayside. I also feel like the training is pretty lacking. When I started there I had a lot of experience and therefore didn’t feel left in the dust when it was time for me to get thrown out into the “real world”. Although, for others who may not have the confidence that I do it would be very easy to struggle for your first couple of months there due to the lack of training.
