Suggestions for improvement
- Clarity of communication across the board, but especially from the top down. There is really no one goal or voice to rally around. No news or constantly changing directives breed fear and result in the flight of the best employees.
What I like about the company
Prior to executive management turnover and sale to a real estate holding company with no retail experience, the company was thriving, even in the midst of the latest recession. Management knew from experience how to balance risk and growth.
The quality of people, their collaborative attitudes, was really refreshing. I really enjoyed working with my team and cross functionally. Politics seemed less of an issue than in other companies.
What I dislike about the company
The executive management team has not yet charted a strategically driven, long view course of action to guide the company through the tough retail and credit environment. The focus on short term cuts to human and other resources should not preclude a bigger vision. Employees are reeling and looking for a leader(s) that have the experience required to communicate and act on the vision.
