Company Culture

Boston Properties does not allow work from home even on inclement weather conditions. Also they pay is not good. No paternity leaves and maternity leave is just outdated. The company is very much old school. Its very much a 60’s environment and was felt in the dark from a project and social perspective.

Support from management

It is very difficult to grow and people are promoted maybe after staying more than 10 years in the company. The leadership in network services are actually engineers promoted as managers. In fact they shouldn’t have been promoted as managers as they are not very people oriented. They lack managerial qualities. All the important technical work would be actually done by them and only irrelevant and not much visible projects would be given to the Engineers. They travel around and spent time in conferences like RSA, EMCWorld and VMworld and do not give the engineers the opportunity to go either of these events.

Company Culture

Some supervisors are certainly better than others but overall employees are not valued

Freedom to work independently

You are expected to work long hours, with heavy workloads as the company is cronically understaffed

Internal Communication

It's a need to know basis and sometimes information isn't shared even when needed.

Gender Equality

There are very few women in the higher ranks

Career Development

It is extremely difficult to move up the ranks unless you are willing to do the job without the benefits of compensation. They are infamous for transferring people to positions with greater responsibilities without compensation
