  • Overall the company offers a lot of benefits. An increase in starting pay, and an increased match percentage for the 401k would be nice additions.

What I like about the company

Brinks is always looking to congratulate hard workers. This has become a new directive with the launch of our company app and also the increased focus on employee of the month, in each location. While hitting my most recent length of employment milestone, I was given a certificate, a choice of options for a gift, and also my picture was posted on the Brinks app with my direct manager. While I am not a person that needs positive reinforcement, it is refreshing to see a company focus on it's employees.

What I dislike about the company

Due to the type of work we do, there is a lot of turnover. It would be nice to see the company pay a little more and try to retain our employees. This will also cut back on the overtime and lack of work/life balance.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I would re-establish eroding benefits package and increase salaries to market rates to attract top talent and hold employees responsible for their performance - poor performers unfortunately should be released in a timely fashion, for their own good as well as the companies.

What I like about the company

Stable can’t many with proven record as the industry leader. Management is fair, pay is slightly below market but getting better.

What I dislike about the company

Management is slow to embrace change, 150 + years in business has created some ‘traditional’ habits that are inefficient in the current environment. Fresh, new talent equals fresh new ideas - just need management to be open to the new ways of doing things.

Support from management

Managers set goals then tell you they weren't met the next day. These goals seem to be picked out of the sky, no reasoning to them. When asked how these goals are set, they give no real answers. Employees have input but never listened to by managers.

Teamwork

Most cashiers are willing to help with questions and help each other problem solve.

Freedom to work independently

Everyone is responsible for their work, end of day, everyone helps out to get the work done. That was appreciated when work was over whelming.

Internal Communication

Each day there was a morning meeting, goal setting and vague information on new clients.

Overall compensation for your work

As a new employee, I was only making $2.00 an hr less then employees who had been there for over 8 yrs. Seems 0 cost of living raises had been given for many years.

No.

Work-Life Balance

Lots of mandatory OT, management not happy if scheduled DR.s appts. after work and interfered in an employee staying for the OT.

Workplace Safety

Due to the nature of company, there were MANY safe guards in place. Not much training on what to do in case of an event.

Challenging Work

The work was challenging, all deposits had to be done correctly.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Be more understanding to your employees, I know your not my friend, but do not roll your eyes at me like a kid.

What I dislike about the company

The work environment was hard, management was not your friend, only talked to you if they found a mistake. Disapproved of any talking between employees, freely rolled their eyes when questioned about anything.
Work place was dirty, which was known at interview, but to have a break room that was filthy all time was unacceptable. They had cleaning crew but it was horrible.
