Suggestions for improvement

  • Do the right thing, and base all decisions that way instead of compliance to avoid lawsuits. Having a minimum of 10 fire drills a year is a ridiculous waste of time for example. The amount of required testing should be changed. Hire competent people at all levels, whether administrative or teachers. Too often the testing is done because schools were passing kids though and grades weren't valid. Support public schooling and stop the trend of privatizing education and also making it computer based because of lack of funding.

What I like about the company

If you are going to teach high school in Broward County, then Nova is one of the best ones left. You also have later hours if you are not a morning person. It's also centrally located in Broward County.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Listen to teachers and improve recruitment of the best and brightest by paying teachers better and honoring the profession as one of worth.

What I like about the company

Teaching is an extremely rewarding experience when teachers are valued, respected, and listened to.

What I dislike about the company

Teachers are not adequately compensated in relation to the amount of work they do or it’s importance to society. We are also not consulted about curriculum or whether practices are developmentally appropriate, instead having those things decided by politicians and business people who have no background in education.

Suggestions for improvement

  • That then employees vote to keep the superintendent rather than the board. The employees are the one affected by his decisions.
