Company will use you up and spit you out
Has a very strong Canadian Culture
Support from management
Expectations are often not realistic,employees are dictated too rather than involved in decisions
The Employees are fantastic and work well together despite management issues
When the company was privately owned communication was great. Much more guarded as a public company
Not many women in leadership positions
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older workers are phased out in reductions in force. Senority is not appreciated --fresh new employees are
Hard to grow within the company in certain areas. Plus after a few years they are ready to bring in new people and let go of old ones
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is fair but increases are hard to come by
Office / Work Environment
Company went to an open office environment with no cubes--very distracting to try to get work done. However, the rest of the environment is very clean and nice
Great efforts to recycle and be eco friendly
Not a family orientated culture..you are expected to be on call at all times and have no outside life
Was very proud of the products the company produced. Lots of $$ spent on marketing the product
HIGH RISK for positions being eliminated happens every couple of years at this company.
Had a strong HSE department when I was there but I believe those positions were eliminated
Constantly pushed to grow and complete stretch assignments. For example if you dislike public speaking you will be given assignments specifically targeting this area.

- You need to value your employees and keep them around rather than using them and discarding them due to overspending and mismanagement.
What I like about the company
The company puts together very nice events for its employees. Company picnics, take your child to work, boating days, etc...
What I dislike about the company
Management is very hands on and everything needs approval. The company overspends and then the employees pay the price with reductions in force every couple of years.
