Management wants the nurses to continue to learn and holds them to high standard which is good.
The amount of work per shift was most days too much. Day shift had more back up whereas second shift didn't have the extra staff to help. Admissions at dinner time or during the middle of a med pass without someone to help was extremely frustrating. Maybe just having a PRN admissions nurse would be a huge help.
If you don't work first shift you get very little support. The culture was just okay, a little cliquish on day shift but if those things don't bother you it's not bad.
If you are having an actual problem, the supervisor will listen and try to offer suggestions. Never had anything over the top come up but I think they would be there to back the nursing staff the best they can.
Depends on who you are working with. A few other nurses were great with teamwork, but mostly people are out for themselves.
Not even on their radar.
Monthly all staff meetings keep everyone on the same page.
Little on going training, no CEUs offered.
Can be extremely stressful but the residents are what made the job worth it.
Seemed to be a lot of (repeated) call offs especially for the night shift so there was always an opportunity to pick up more hours. They weren't mean if you couldn't come in but you had to stay over until a replacement was found. It was the LPNs job to call and find a replacement for the nursing assistants and LPNs.
Housekeeping was amazing here, maint. department was quick to fix anything that needed to be fixed especially if it raised a safety concern.
Seems to be a factor of where the facility is located. Not much diversity in the area in general.
