What I like
Management wants the nurses to continue to learn and holds them to high standard which is good.
What I dislike
The amount of work per shift was most days too much. Day shift had more back up whereas second shift didn't have the extra staff to help. Admissions at dinner time or during the middle of a med pass without someone to help was extremely frustrating. Maybe just having a PRN admissions nurse would be a huge help.
Suggestions for improvement
More support for newly hired nurses, more orientation for STNAs. Have the RNs on shifts actually check on the other halls and help. There were times the work load was unrealistic and the RNs would be playing games on their phones. You had to go find them to get help.
