It's all about those DAMNED credit cards- it's not about customers anymore. You could be the #1 salesperson for the week, but if you failed to convert at least 3-4 customers to credit card accounts, you might as well be the store janitor.
Support from management
REALLY depends on which store you work for. Some managers get it- others don't give a rip. It's all about working "together under the big green roof" aka- shut up, do your job, keep everybody happy regardless if you can make a difference. We don't want to showcase what management is doing wrong. Ever.
Information only flows one way- down. If you have an idea, a critique, a suggestion- forget about sharing it with someone who matters. You will only get your hand slapped and have to continue to do things the hard way. Sad, but true.
Attitude towards older colleagues
they actually do this one pretty well.
They totally stink at this. Forget what they tell you- you're stuck where you were hired.
Overall compensation for your work
HORRIBLE compensation for anyone under the top 3 managers at any given store. No matter how hard you work or hours you put in, you will be paid squat.
Used to be great- geared more towards HUNTING. Now with Bass Pro- they are turning the stores into boat showrooms. Sad, you have to walk around the dang things just to get to the products that you want. Cabela's customers could CARE LESS about silly boats....stick them outside where they belong!
with the recent merger, anything can happen. Again, toxic. Stay away until dust settles. NO ONE is safe anymore with Bass Pro calling the shots.

They suck at diversity. Big time. Walk into any store and look around.
