Some management are amazing!!!! Not all! Almost all staff are above and beyond!!!
Support from management
It was great until new supervisor was hired. After that day, I felt I had to protect myself from her too instead of being supported by her.
I spent more time feeling like I needed to document and justify everything I did because my boss had no idea what I was doing. She never asked and that was so strange. I sent copies of my daily work log so she would know who I’d been working with and what I’d been working on in case someone asked or in case I wasn’t available to answer.
Teamwork was awesome with my first boss, until she left on 8/12/17. New boss started 10/9/17 and I didn’t have a 1-on-1 meeting with her until January 29, 2018. No training-no communication to speakof...
Freedom to work independently
Lots of independence, but then later it was used against me when my new boss was hired.
Daily communication was each morning with my first supervisor in our 2-person department to organize our day. After second supervisor started, I had to work extremely hard just to get required signatures from her. I requested regular or scheduled meetings to communicate our workload, but that never happened.
No surprise that after our first scheduled meeting on 1/29/18, I had a verbal warning the following week; a written warning the week after that; 2 weeks later I was put on 90-day probation; then finally I was fired just 2 weeks later for making too many mistakes. Even though I explained that the mistakes she identified weren’t made by me, I was told she didn’t want to hear it and I should quit “playing” the victim. Of course she also said she wouldn’t fight my unemployment, so if I wanted to filed “it’s okay”! However, she then sent in 33 pages to Unemployment to tell them not to pay me! (Much of what she sent was lies about me and my Performance-including mistakes I didn’t make (some even stated for days I wasn’t in the office!)
Didn’t notice any favoritism.
Attitude towards older colleagues
All ages welcomed!
There were great programs in place before the new HR Manager took over and decided they weren’t worth the time.
Overall compensation for your work
Decent wages- nothing fabulous. Nice benefit package, but new HR Manager plans to reduce benefits t save expenses.
Office / Work Environment
Didn’t notice much
In 18 months of work, my average work week was usually 50 hours and sometimes nearly 60 hours per week. I was tired!
They have a better reputation than they deserve due to the fact they are the largest employer in town.
There are a few managers that have the power to “get rid of you” if they decide they don’t like you. Very sad- but true!
Because it’s a hospital, physical accessibility it great! Mental and emotional accessibility appeared to be more limited.
Better than most
Such variety! No 2 days were ever alike! No 2 people were ever alike!
Inclusive / Diverse
It’s helpful if you’re local. I fit in great with staff!
