Company Culture

Executive-centric. No ideas, decisions, or improvements can come from the field or the work force. Micromanaged by one VP

Support from management

None. executive level management micromanages all aspects of the business. Department Managers are relegated to simple traffic cops without any authority to make decisions or provide input. Centralized authority sits with one person

Teamwork

Departments function as independent silos, although they should be working in synch. The dependencies that are present are ignored and issues that arise are routinely ignored. Accounting functions as the central department though it produces nothing and is a generally late on everything

Freedom to work independently

None, heavy micromanagement. All work is strictly guided and reviewed by upper management.

Internal Communication

One way, from the top down. Communication up is intentionally stifled

None. There is no opportunity to advance as the executive level management is not concerned with employee ambitions.

Grossly underpaid in all areas

Office / Work Environment

Antiquated. Systems are very archaic most computer systems and programs are from the early 2000's. The office is located in a run-down part of town. Graffiti is constantly being applied to the building and windows. A known drug house is located adjacent to the parking lot. The entrance is often a sleeping place for the homeless.

Environmental Friendliness

Antiquated systems means everything is printed out on paper. There are no recycle bins present

Only one handicapped spot for over 100 employees, of which at least 3 are handicapped.
No elevator in a 2 story building.

It is all simple, however it is made difficult due to the micromanagement

  • Treat employees as an asset, not a liability. Trust people. Move, the current location is not conducive to a safe environment.

Company Culture

The company is stuck in the past with upper management practicing all of the autocratic micromanagement you find in failing companies.

Support from management

The department management tries to help but they are without support from above.

Teamwork

The teamwork is excellent. We found ourselves constantly working to get our product out without the support of upper management.

Freedom to work independently

Department manager believed you were hired to do the job and you were expected to do it. Upper management believes you should be constantly directed and should have to ask direction at every turn.

Career Development

Once in your position it can be very, very stagnant. The "support" from upper management is nonexistent, suggestions are made to management and nothing gets done or it goes to their shelf of old discarded ideas and mandates them as the solution.

The work space is highly antiquated, with everything you'd think would make it uncomfortable.

Work-Life Balance

With all the requirements and lack of upper managerial support, you find your self being pushed out the door before you're able to get your work done, then blamed when it's not. many find themselves bringing work home just to keep up, but without the pay and praise making it worthwhile.

Unfortunately the company image is lacking.

Challenging Work

The work is challenging and fun. It can be very satisfying even if it's just being able to keep up with the volume.
