Suggestions for improvement
- Give newer employees and adjuncts a better deal. Better pay, compensation for committee work, and a different allocation of work assignments. Maybe assignment allocation could mean that seniority gets to pick their assignment first, not that they should get ALL of them. Support your new employees with a culture of working to keep them not hoping they will stay.
What I like about the company
Cabrillo has a great overall attitude. They always want to improve the professional development is great. Lots of support to further personal educational goals the classified union is amazing. Great location, the views from campus are exceptional and there are plenty of local events.
What I dislike about the company
The pay is terrible. There is a reason why people leave to work at other colleges in the area until they can apply for a management position at Cabrillo. Management gets decent pay. Not good pay, but decent. And seniority is an issue. Older employees get way better deals than the new but the older ones complain the loudest. It’s not an equitable situation and the disparity gets bigger every year.
