Site Program Directors only care about filling a room, they are not concerned with assisting clients in gaining long-term assistance.
Support from management
Don't report anything unethical to management ranging from the local sites to the main office, their retaliation policy is to retaliate. Don't count on getting in-house training from anyone onsite - they are totally clueless.
The program directors and DSOs don't recommend team work. What they do thrive on is employees disagreeing with each other and rattling about each other.
Freedom to work independently
This is frowned upon, because you cannot look or act smarter than management - that is forbidden. The term micro-management was probably created by CAMBA -where we can "do nothing."
Be careful how you assist clients, you will definitely be reprimanded, and definitely don't report unethical behavior committed by other staff members - you will be retaliated upon.
Unless you get stuck working a shift - working at Camba allows you to go home to family, they also respect the posted holidays.
Suggestions for improvement
- Training, training, training for those who are overseeing individual sites. They are egotistical and clueless.
What I like about the company
The company provides much needed services for homeless, at-risk, mentally ill individuals and families.
What I dislike about the company
The services need to be rendered in an effective manner, e.g. hire more qualified staff members, not those who are discussing other clients with clients, or those who think working is just sitting and waiting for eight hours to leave. Another big thing when donations come in - they should be issued to the clients, not staff to take home.
