What I like

Carle has provided tuition for my wife to further her career. The employee perks of working and being loyal to the company is nice as well. The pay increase with year marks is nice to constantly work towards something.

What I dislike

The amount of jobs some positions have that are not compensated for. The growth of the company puts stress in some areas to perform more than stated in the job and there is no perks for those employees to perform those jobs.

Suggestions for improvement

Promote productive workers in what they do. There are multiple employees doing multiple jobs of others and are not receiving credit and everyone gets a slap on the back for 1 persons doing.

I honestly can’t think of any.

I love working with patients. Being able to hel them brightens my day.

What I dislike

Some locations need to work on their teamwork/communication.

Suggestions for improvement

There is not anything I would improve at this time

What I like

Care very much for their employees.

What I dislike

Gives away too much charity care to those who dont need it.

More places for employees to break and eat at within the building.

They are good at working with personal needs and schedules. Depending on the job & dept, a good place to work

4.2
Recommended
EmployeeWorked at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL at the time of review.

What I like

They have worked with personal needs for scheduling and in keeping hours up. I have seen them make placement provisions when position was deleted because of company changes

What I dislike

It's a medical facility, so time off can sometimes be difficult. People in some departments can be overworked from being shorthanded. Wages for lower level departments are lower than they should be. It's too difficult to use sick leave, strict regs. Can't be used for Dr appointments, need Dr note at Beginning AND end of illnesses, limited hospital stay and family illness use. Nearly impossible to use, so people with health problems get little personal leave time, because they have to use all of their pers. Leave for Dr appointments and many illnesses

Suggestions for improvement

Better pay for lower level jobs. Being able to use Sick leave for ALL Medical related leave needs, instead of having to use personal leave. People shouldn't have to use personal leave for Dr appts, non-anthesthsia surgeries or when you're only sick for 1 or 2 days and have to go to doctors multiple times for notes to be able to use Sick leave

Company Culture

Carle encourages good culture and for the most part everyone is nice to work with

Work-Life Balance

They are usually good at working with schedule needs, but also depends on the specific department and managers

Career Development

Depends on the Department

Handicapped Accessibility

It is very handicapped friendly

Overall compensation for your work

Benifits are good, but pay scale could be much better

Inclusive / Diverse

They encourage and believe in diversity

Workplace Safety

They encourage and provide for safety

Teamwork

They do encourage this

Attitude towards older colleagues

They do well at this and have several positions that older people are often hired for

Office / Work Environment

They do a pretty good job at this

Challenging Work

My position can be a bit challenging at time but runs smoothly for the most part

Internal Communication

They encourage this and are pretty successful

Gender Equality

They do well at diversity and encourage it. There are many races, ages and types of people working

Freedom to work independently

Depends on the Department and managers. Mine is good

In terms of innovation, Carle pushes all staff to be involved in ideas and constructive criticism.

4.8
Recommended
EmployeeWorked at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL at the time of review.

What I like

My immediate leaders encourage me to find work/life balance but also to better myself and be involved in the organization and help to influence decisions that will affect my job.

What I dislike

Nurse staffing, like any healthcare facility, is short. Having more nurses or even increasing unlicensed assistive personnel would be helpful.

Suggestions for improvement

I actually think being able to fire poor performers more quickly would be beneficial instead of having to wait for them to make enough mistakes to be fired. Poor performers do not do any favors for workplace safety or patient safety.

Work-Life Balance

Supervisors and managers are promoting work/life balance and working 1:1 with ideas to improve it.

Overall compensation for your work

Recent market adjustments have helped this!

Teamwork

Teamwork is a top priority.

The company is constantly growing which is a good thing. Benefits could be better. Laptops provided for work do not last

EmployeeWorked at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL at the time of review.

What I like

The compensation is far, and market analysis is repeated often. I do feel my job and the company are secure.

What I dislike

I feel like there should be some sick time allowance. With new buildings they seem to be going for looks not practicality.

Suggestions for improvement

I would provide laptops that stay charged all day. I would provide workers with a small amount of sick time. Maternity leave is also lacking.

What I like

Management is encouraging, compassionate and understanding. If you are unwell, you are encouraged to take a sick day. If you have an emergency, you will be able to leave without the thought of losing your job.

What I dislike

The unhealthy obliging to some doctor/surgeons.

Suggestions for improvement

Buy from local businesses as opposed to corporations.
