There was so much reverse prejudice that it was difficult to work. They made it VERY clear that, if you weren't a Community member you were nothing but a slave to them. They promoted Community members that had NO education OR experience in the positions they were promoted into. There were department managers that didn't even have a High School diploma!
Support from management
Only if it benefited the company! If not, you are on your own! NO SUPPORT!
Teamwork was pretty good among the regular employees.
I was informed by email that I would be going to Graveyard shift in 5 days! I have never worked a Graveyard shift. This was after 11 years of loyal employment! They didn't discuss it with me or even have the guts to tell me in person, just "You're going to Graveyard on Sunday" they constantly mess with people's lives and do whatever they want without regard to the fact that their employees are human beings and have lives outside of the casino.
Unless you're a Community member, forget it. You will stay in the position you were hired into.
Overall compensation for your work
The only reason I give this 2 stars is because they have good health insurance. Other than that, they implemented a raise and bonus freeze around 2008 when the economy crashed and kept it in place for 6 years. 6 years we did not get a raise or Christmas bonus! They didn't need to do a freeze at all because they rake in billions of $$$$ a day!! No joke! They are rolling in it and just used the economy to further their greed!
Office / Work Environment
We made it fun when..... management wasn't around
They have recycle bins everywhere to make it look good BUT they DO NOT RECYCLE!
If I could give this less that 1 star I would! When I first started I had 3 children at home and requested a day shift so I could be home with them at night. Although they had positions available for me on Day shift they put me on Swing shift. I saw my children every other weekend and they lived with me!!! I had the beg to go to Day shift for 13 months before it happened! One employee told me "If they wanted you to have children, they would have issued them to you" As funny as that sounds, it was true. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES LIVES!!!!
To outsiders they may have a decent image, but to anyone that works there they don't. I would say that a good 90% if not more, of the employees I talked to wanted out.
If you are not a Community member your job is NOT secure! You could have years of "loyal, never late, never calling off, always doing what you are told service" and they will threaten your job at a drop of a hat. If you are a Community member however, you can do pretty much anything and still have a job. There was an employee (Community member) that was a "No show, no call" for 9 days. Their rule is if you are "No show, no call" for 3 days that is considered a self termination and you are let go. When they found out the this Community member employee was in tent city for extreme DUI they welcomed him back with opened arms and adjusted his schedule around his work release. That's just one of hundreds of examples. Also, there were several Community member employees that got into so much trouble in their current position and department that if they weren't Community members they would have been fired, but instead were just transferred to different departments or positions or locations (between Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona). Sometimes those transfers meant promotions and better pay!
This was part of my job, so the accessibility was good, and made better if a problem was found.
Physically safe, yes, but not emotionally, psychologically or spiritually safe
The work itself was fun. I guess that's why I stayed so long. I made a lot of friends there. No 2 days were alike so that made it interesting. Too bad the company gave so little regard the their employees...I probably would still be there if they had.
Inclusive / Diverse
It was only diverse because they needed so many employees and Community members generally don't want to work so they had to hire other races.
