Company Culture

Dosen't matter how hard you work, they will promote the person who kisses the best but.

Management will laugh in your face, I know because it happened to me.

If your being "trained" on something new, and you not a buddy you will get to work independently even if you need help you WILL NOT (tim Johnson) get it.

Communicates well if your a drinking buddy. If your a buddy you'll get all the help you need.

A friend of mine who who management didn't like tried to get a management jod a another plant, and someone in management went into the computer and made it look like he had a level 3, so the other plant as per caterpillar policy couldn't look at him for a

Actually they pay quite well.

If they don't like you they will put you next to an air cleaner/conditioner that has burned up. In the summer. Yes they did that to me. In NC

No when I was there.

No work-life balance. Last I heard people I worked with were getting surgeries just to get time off work.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Get rid of all middle middle management. Clean house. Only give promotions on merit. Not on on how well liked you are. Or, I sorry to say if your a minority. I'm a minority. I think people should only be hired and promoted on merit.

What I like about the company

They pay well. The insurance was good, but with obama care I'm sure it's like all insurance. It's no longer very good and costs a small fortune.

What I dislike about the company

Nepotism. Plain and simple. No work life balance. So much mandatory overtime.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Distribution centers are removing office workers from the offices and putting them on the warehouse floors to convert the offices to breakrooms. The employees requested a cafeteria not more breakrooms. You have individuals responsible for answering phones talking to customers trying to hear over loud warehouse noises because they were relocated to a warehouse floor workstation. At times it’s hard to hear the phone ringing and customers complain because the phone doesn’t get answered because the workers can’t hear it. Also it’s important to stop mandatory overtime in states when temperatures reach above 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Workers get heat exhaustion from being required to work 45 to 55 hours a week in warehouses that reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit indoors. Allow only volunteer overtime during the hot months as a corporate policy. Also when it comes to job promotions, the good ole boy system is not working. No women getting salaried management promotions for years while men promoted and not qualified. Corporate office should be aware that this practice is showing favoritism towards men and is gender discrimination. It needs to be addressed by corporate soon.

What I dislike about the company

When the Waco distribution center was new the employee moral was wonderful. It was a great place to work and managers valued employee opinions. RIW’s were a part of the culture, now the employees don’t even know what an RIW is. Management was promoted based on qualifications and knowledge, now it’s a good ole boy system. People are being awarded management roles and the ones rejected for the same role have to train the one that was promoted to how to do their job. Managers don’t listen to the employees or value their opinions any longer. Employee appreciation functions barely exist anymore. The facility manager used to attend the former appreciation functions now you barely see him and he barely talks to anyone. This facility needs new management in a bad way that can raise employees moral as well as values employee opinions.

Company Culture

It used to be wonderful. Now people live in fear every day, wondering if they’ll have a job tomorrow. It’s sickening.

Support from management

Absolutely none at the C level. They cared about their pocketbooks and nothing. Also, note how many white males run the company. All you have to do to see how truly undiverse they are is look at the majority of upper level manage.

This is where Cat was great, due to the workers below management.

Heck, you don’t even have the freedom to work at all, much less independently.

Hide, hide, hide the truth. That seems to be the policy these days.

Seriously? This company has historically never cared about women. They’ll throw one or two random females in then show off to everybody, but remember to look at their org chart. 2018amd it’s still the “Good ol boys club”.

Good if you can manage to miss they constant layoffs.
