Company Culture

If you're part of the management click you'll be fine.

Support from management

No, continual GM change led to constant flux with no clear goals as every GM had their own agenda while the rest of the upper management never changed and had their own outlook on how this facility should run, constant strife in the front office. Only certain employees were ever included in decision making.

Teamwork

Upper management was constantly on middle management which ultimately trickled down to the employees with not good results. It's the old story..put 10 people in a line, tell number 1 a story,will the story be the same when it gets to number 10, hardly ever.

Freedom to work independently

I was, but it amounted to nothing. In the end 10 years of building, troubleshooting, coming in on days and nights off meant nothing.

Internal Communication

Every single manager had their own agenda, none communicated nor worked well together. My manager hated another departments manager which for 10 years led to strife.

Attitude towards older colleagues

What I seen and in the end felt, once a person neared the 10 year mark, they were let go with no provable offense, I seen it more then once and has happened since I was "let go", generally we were older employees.

Career Development

Non exsistent. When I was hired I was told I would receive all kinds of training, it never happened along with new lines with new technology and no training at all.

Overall compensation for your work

Average, health insurance was expensive, very expensive and yearly raises were very small.

Environmental Friendliness

To a lesser degree it does.

Work-Life Balance

For the majority of my time there I was never pressured into working, but the production people were.

Company Image

Overall I think CCL has a good reputation and I truly enjoyed working for them the first few years, but as time went on, the constant GM changes, the middle management ran like they were mini warlords, by the end I was happy to be out of there.

Job Security

It's good until you reach your 10 year mark, then be aware.

Workplace Safety

Above average, they do try to keep the facility safe.

Challenging Work

The company invested heavily in new equipment and technology but...training was non exsistent. Whenever new equipment was purchased only management went overseas to "learn" the new lines, not the operators, not the Maintenance, made no sense.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Get a GM in there who has a clear and concise plan, relay that to the employees ie the workers and get middle management in line. The 10 years I was there not one middle manager was changed, always the GM, you would think that should mean something.

What I like about the company

The department I worked in was staffed with dedicated friendly people and the investment in new technology.

What I dislike about the company

The constant GM changes led to no continuity which meant zero clear direction on how the facility was led and run, gave the middle management undue power and that led to strife between departments.
