Suggestions for improvement
- Get an upper management team that has a clue and quit hiring General managers that come from cookie factories and haven't the faintest idea how to run a steel processing plant.
What I like about the company
When I hired in 2001 it was a great place to work. A very family feeling when you went to work.
What I dislike about the company
Upper management has not a clue how to run a company. They think that coming up with dumb ideas and then just implementing them without even trying them out is the way to go. If you don't like it, there's the door. They also think that Central States should come before family. Again, if you don't like it, there's the door. No one holds upper management accountable yet they like to use that word a lot to beat down their subordinates. Apparently it is fun to slam a supervisor and put him out of a job after 14 years of faithful service because of the shortcomings of power hungry upper management with bad ideas. Middle management isn't much better. The middle managers that are worth a hoot are to scared to stand up and tell UM that they are wrong or that they have rotten ideas. The rest of middle management is in bed with UM. Little puppets. Sure, they have a list of "values" but those only count when it's to UM's advantage. So in conclusion, I would not wish my worst enemy to be employed at Central States.
