Suggestions for improvement

  • The company has a good idea for this program. If they replaced the director with someone with more compassion, the program would be better. The staff and managers need to enforce the rules with the clients.

What I like about the company

I enjoyed working with the teen moms and helping learn how to function in this new position as a parent.
I enjoyed trainings to learn to be a better influence and help to the new moms.
I enjoyed the hours I worked overnight
I enjoyed staff meeting with other staff that did not include the director, who thought she knew more about the clients than staff did, although she didn’t spend much time there

What I dislike about the company

The tyrannical control the director tried to hold over the heads of the staff.
The disrespect given by the director to the staff and the clients.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The managers should trust their developers. The remaining developers are talented people and deserve better from their managers. Listen to the developer when they say something like, "Thats not standard" or "Thats not how that should work". Also, stop micro-managing your teams. Management, your developers are REALLY good. Let them do their job, don't sit over their shoulder and criticize every little thing that you don't understand. Also, your clients are not idiots or morons and I would suggest to you that you stop treating them as such. Your software should be intuitive and easy to use, but certainly not dumbed down to such an extent that it hampers the use and development of your product.

What I like about the company

The developers that I worked with were awesome! Friendly and always willing to help.

What I dislike about the company

Management was clueless about developing Internet applications and often dictated a path (quite often an incorrect path) rather than reach out and actually talk to the developer team lead or other developers who were actually doing the work for input and what should be done and what needed to be done. In fact, the technical manager and the people designing the web based application had no idea on the fundamentals of how http works. I understand that many IT managers do not understand this. But when the manager and the people designing the system were former developers, this is a serious problem.

Management also liked to micro-manage its developers to the point of driving some of them away to explore new opportunities.

  • Listen to your talented developers. They know more about web applications than you ever will. Work with them and not against them by forcing technology down their throats that they do not need or want just to meet some agenda!

What I like about the company

Nice benefits, outside of IT management, they genuinely cared about their mission and cared about the people they providing services to.

What I dislike about the company

Micromanaging management. Management had no idea on web development. Would not allow developers to make suggestions or listen to them at all.
