There is a distict lack of trust for the management team within most of the ranks. I believe this stems from the lack of good communication and follow through when people ask for help.
Support from management
Management team communicates within a select group, often leaves the employees that actually do the work out of the loop. It's a boys club.
Most employees work well together.
Freedom to work independently
There has been a lot of growth over the last 1.5 years... the management team also keeps growing but not the workforce. There are a lot of really big projects going at one time and many people are very overextended and being set up to fail.
There are no regular meetings that communicate feedback or results from the management team. We rarely see the CEO or the COO.
It is a boys club and women are often put in positions where they are set up to fail. The glass ceiling is a real thing here.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There is definitely a tendency to hire young but they do tend to treat those 45+ fairly.
It seems to depend on who you are. There have been a few things that have started but were never followed through on. They do like to promote from within sometimes though... it really depends on the position.
Overall compensation for your work
The benefits aren't bad. Salaries are low for a lot of people though.
Office / Work Environment
Depending on the area you work in, the conditions can be just fine or very oppressive. There is a lack of natural light but they do allow us to make our space our own.
Not a lot to say here. I think the intention is there but again, there is a lack of follow through.
For the most part they will allow you to take the time you need.
There seems to be a general undercurrent of dissatisfaction with most employees.
There is a little discomfort right now due to the recent acquisitions and how it seems they are "cleaning house" within certain areas.
Accommodations are made for those that need them.
Efforts are made to keep the employees safe. This is a safety company after all.
The work is challenging mostly due to the sheer volume that we are expected to take on. Normally there is no feedback unless you mess up. Efforts are rarely acknowledged and you are often just told that you're not doing enough.
Suggestions for improvement
- Better communication. Regular company meetings and/or correspondence.
What I like about the company
I do like the work that I get to do here. There have been some interesting opportunities that have arisen due to the recent acquisitions. I like that people are allowed to being their dogs in occasionally.
What I dislike about the company
The management team is elitist. There seems to be a general attitude of disdain for the people that do the day to day work. A lot of employees do not feel supported by their bosses. Many women in the company feel like they are being set up to fail. Concerns are often dismissed and/or brushed under the rug. There is a lot of lip service with a lack of follow through from management. There is a distinct lack of transparency within the company.
