Company Culture
Huge disparity in expectations between upper level management and lower level management.
Support from management
Most upper level management have NO idea what lower level employees do!
Teamwork
If there was teamwork their stock wouldn't be sitting at $2/share!
Freedom to work independently
Everyone works independently! Poor teamwork!
Internal Communication
Business units do not share best practices! NO incentive to do so!
Friendliness is preferred over candidness! Don't be truthful if it may offend someone!
Gender Equality
Chesapeake values diversity! Job placement is centered on diversity rather than qualifications!
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older, experienced employees were let go about six years ago to reduce salary overhead. This left a void in experience! Millennials think they know EVERYTHING! They don't!
Career Development
There are NO competency programs for employees! Advancement depends upon image not performance!
Overall compensation for your work
Salaries are lower than comparable positions in the energy industry.
Office / Work Environment
Employees are extremely friendly
Work-Life Balance
Excellent working hours! Many show up about 8am. Go to breakfast and return about 9am. Take a 1 1/2 lunch hour then exercise at the gym for an hour. Most are gone by 4pm.
This constitutes a 9 hour work day!
And they wonder why nothing gets accomplished!
Company Image
Why do you think this energy company has a "Penny Stock"!
Job Security
Be candid - be fired! They would rather you maintain the appearance of being a team player than telling incompetent team members the truth!
Workplace Safety
Corporate office typically has the worst safety record!
Challenging Work
Managers are more concerned about their image within the company than providing results! Incompetence is accepted - Be a team player and your career is solid!
Inclusive / Diverse
Chesapeake values diversity! Job placement is centered on diversity rather than qualifications!
I was the ONLY employee on my team who met qualifications required to hold the position!
Suggestions for improvement
- Share best practices between business units Develop competencies for every position Promote based on performance not image
What I like about the company
Some Millennials are willing to learn
What I dislike about the company
I was hired to advise. My recommendations lead to increased production in the the Eagle Ford business unit. My recommendations lead to significant cost savings in the Appalachia business unit.
I was fired because I was too direct when dealing with incompetent team members and Millennial Engineers!
