Company Culture

A very toxic environment bc management gives people that have worked for the company longer better regardless of if they actually do work hard.

Support from management

There was one particular management team that I felt this way with. However every single group after that just let the staff run themselves basically.

Teamwork

Whilst they liked the idea of 'teamwork makes the dream work', they never really encouraged it or made it seem like a priority to them.

Freedom to work independently

They certainly did bc management was mostly always in the building, but couldn't ever be found when needed. So they definitely had a lot of trust in the staff

Internal Communication

I only rated so low bc they only ever really talked about the success, never what needed to be worked on.

Gender Equality

Never had any issues with management and the unfair treatment of women, we had the same opportunities as the men.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They definitely treated the older employees that had worked there for 15-20 years like gold. Even when they weren't showing good effort!

Career Development

There were definitely plenty of opportunities to grow, but you had to ask for the chance, it was never offered bc of the great job you do daily.

Overall compensation for your work

However, I was waiting tables so I can't attribute that to the company.

Office / Work Environment

For comfort purposes they always provided that for us.

Environmental Friendliness

They didn't recycle.

Work-Life Balance

It does in the sense that your schedule is so flexible, but not too perfect bc some of management still expected you to put the company before your family.

Company Image

I felt this way in the beginning of the working relationship, but by the middle/end I could no longer say that.

Job Security

I felt that way throughout my employment there.

Handicapped Accessibility

In every capacity

Workplace Safety

We were provided training to maintain a safe work environment, however the way we learned wasn't always enforced.

Challenging Work

Never viewed the work to be very challenging after being in the industry for a decade.

Inclusive / Diverse

It wasn't looked down on, but it wasn't exactly always celebrated either.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Once again, I feel like just having a strong and united management team would turn the company around for the better. Also, no favoritism and holding each team member accountable for their actions would change the dynamic and moral of the staff as a whole completely!

What I like about the company

I loved and respected how much time, labor and money they were donating to St.'Judes Children'sHospital EVERY YEAR! We had all kinds of fundraising events to raise money for them every year. That was the most positive experience I had working there.

What I dislike about the company

I just think that they need to work on their management team as a whole in every location. The lack of real leadership and the management team never being on the same page was always my biggest issue with the company bc it leaves no room for anyone to be held accountable when things went awry.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I honestly don't think I could do anything better than they have been doing it already. I managed a restaurant for several years and I liked the system I used but it was for a small restaurant with only 3 locations. Chili's has a good corporate system that they have managed to get people to execute in all the locations to a set standard of quality and service. What they are doing works well. I'm not going to tell them to change something that might mess it up somehow unless I see a need for a change. No need for change.

What I like about the company

I really enjoyed working for Chili's. It was a great environment to work in as far as restaurants go. The management was really good and they worked really hard to make sure things went well for all the other employees. Everything was done according to structured outlined procedures and quality levels. Efforts were made to make teamwork a priority for everyone. Employees were encouraged to learn more about the restaurant as a whole rather than just their position and to take part in cross training classes when they were available. Several people were able to go on to become candidates for management at other locations after their employment at this Chili's location. It was really good for training hosts and wait staff as well. I worked for several chain restaurants that were corporate run over the years, but Chili's was the best one of them all. It's the only one that where I actually enjoyed being a part of the team felt good about the job.

What I dislike about the company

Most of the things I don't like aren't about the company, they are things about the job and the industry itself. I can't blame Chili's for the long hours that a waitress has to work at least once a week because it's like that at all restaurants. I can't blame Chili's when people don't leave tips or they make huge messes-that's part of the job. When I was a hostess and seating all the guests and the servers were too busy I would help them out but when I was a waitress there was no one to help and that's not Chili's fault-most people didn't help if they weren't servers. I managed a restaurant for several years before I ended up at Chili's a few years later. It was the only place that I thought was run well and had good management and leadership in place. I respected the people I worked for and most of the other employees that were there long enough. All the lazy people didn't want to stick around in that positive environment where they weren't cool for being slack. Everyone worked hard and tried to do their best at work all the time. Manager were good motivators, but the lazy people were not going to be motivated. I guess maybe Chili's would be a bad place to work if you didn't want to try your best and just wanted to get by with as little work as possible. They didn't keep people like that around long. They would fire you if didn't want to work. I guess that's something that they could do differently but I didn't think it was a bad thing really. They would fire you for a lot of things even if you wanted to work. There is no job security in the state of Georgia. It's a work at will state, but there's no job security in the restaurant industry anywhere. Chili's doesn't need constructive feedback, I just didn't want to have a career in the restaurant industry anymore and I didn't have anything else.

Company Culture

I made a couple friends there. But, a lot of the workers seemed uneducated and were just mean.

Support from management

I made a couple friends there. But, a lot of the workers seemed uneducated and were just mean.

Teamwork

They seemed to think bickering was funny. The managers wouldn't enforce any rules, it was just chaos.

Freedom to work independently

They wanted us to work independently.

Internal Communication

The manangement wasn't good. They were never organized, all running around and had no communication with other managers in the same building. They didn't communicate the new changes to menus well. It just wasn't good, and it has really bad reviews on Yelp to prove it.

Gender Equality

The women were strong, and always made sure the other women were treated right. They wouldn't allow anyone to really harass them. The men were very kind to me. The women got the same number of hours as the men did, it seemed mostly equal.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They hired a few people over 45, it was refreshing. It was nice to work with them, they're harder workers. They're less rude than younger people, and the customers liked them better. I would like to see companies hire more people over 45.

Career Development

A restaurant is a good first job. But other than that, there's nowhere to go from there.

Overall compensation for your work

It was fair for an entry level job. It's not meant to be more than that, it was only temporary.

Office / Work Environment

It was comfortable and chic in the restaurant.

Environmental Friendliness

There weren't really any recycling bins.

Work-Life Balance

They allowed me to work part-time, and would somewhat work around my school schedule, which was the one good thing about working there.

Company Image

I didn't really like Chili's to begin with. It's just too disorganized.

Job Security

There are so many developments with AI. All restaurant workers will be replaced soon, which is good.

Handicapped Accessibility

There were tables for handicapped people.

Workplace Safety

Training only lasted three days. People would do a better job if they knew what they were doing. I didn't have any instruction on safety.

Challenging Work

Food service is hard. Every job has its challenges. But everyone seems to complain about food service.

Inclusive / Diverse

They were kind enough, and would listen to me.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The managers could just improve communication with each other.

What I like about the company

I made a couple friends. They were ambitious like me, they wanted this to be a temporary job. One of the managers who was a woman was nice to me. She helped me out if I had a question. The job wasn't all that hard, but it was stressful. The money was alright, and it served its purpose.

What I dislike about the company

The managers were very disorganized. If they had headsets, or found ways to communicate with each other, it would be run better. A lot of the times the cooks undercooked the food, we constantly got complaints from the customers about that. They should vet their people better, they should hire people who aren't so disagreeable. Some of my coworkers were rude to the customers, and everyone they worked with. Customers complained about them all the time.
